A large crowd attended the first ever open-air Mass on the green in Bishopswater as it basked in glorious sunshine.
Residents from the 128 houses in Bishopswater, as well as those from other estates and former residents, attended the event, which was held in memory of those who had passed away in recent years.
Residents' association chairman John McManus explained that in the past, the estate had held a Circle of Life ceremony where they had prayers and blessings for residents.
'We decided this year that we would have a Mass as we've lost a lot of people over the past few years - young and old. We had a big turnout including people who weren't from the estate, or who were but don't live there anymore. We're very grateful to Fr Aodhan Marken for saying the Mass and to all who helped out in any way.'
Music was provided by Therese Harnett and the evening finished with tea and light refreshments on the green.
One local resident, Nancy Walsh, was celebrating her 90th birthday on the day and a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday' was performed for her.
John added: 'It was a lovely community event; a great success, and we hope to hold it again next year.'
