Wexford woman Joan Sheil of Ballyhine Lane, Barntown celebrated her 90th birthday at a party in her home which was attended by family, friends and neighbours.
Joan blew out the candles on a beautiful two-tier cake made by her grand-niece Avril Dunne from Carlow while two other grand-nieces Louise and Elaine skyped from the UK and Australia to wish her many happy returns.
Joan has lived all her life on Ballyhine Lane, growing up on a farm owned by her parents, the late Bob and Statia Esmonde, and later moving to a home a short distance away.
She is the youngest and last surviving member of her immediate family as her seven brothers and sisters have pre-deceased her. Joan's beloved husband Frank Sheil sadly passed away in 1976.
Guests, including many of her nieces and nephews, came from Carlow, Kilkenny, Dublin and Wexford, to help Joan celebrate her milestone birthday and make it a day to remember.
