The Ballycogley players drama group held its annual general meeting in the social centre Tomhaggard during the past week.

Group chairman Fintan Murphy opened the meeting with a vote of sympathy for those relatives of members and supporters of drama who have died since the last AGM. The group was saddened to hear of the tragic death of Maire Johnston, Monamolin in a road traffic accident, Maire who was secretary of the Kilmuckridge drama festival committee a festival at which the players have performed for over 30 years.

Following the reading of the list of apologies from members unable to attend the minutes of the last AGM were read and adopted followed by reports by the various officers. This was followed by the election of the following who will take charge for the coming season: chairman Fintan Murphy, vice-chairman Con Doyle, secretary Angela Byrne, Treasurer Terence O'Byrne, PRO Paddy McGuire and promotion officer Laura Hayes.

These elections were followed by some lively debates on the various motions. The choice of plays for both the one act and three act seasons was discussed and it was decided that Kathleen Tierney, Tony Knott and Breda Hayes would direct the one act plays with the three act play and its director to be decided at a later date.

Fintan closed the meeting by thanking the group for its committment, our loyal supporters for their continued support and the committee of the Tomhaggard social centre for making the centre available to us. We look forward to seeing you all for another fun filled season of drama.
