Water quality information

A Public Meeting regarding water quality in Lady's Island and Tacumshane lakes, including land in Kilrane, Churchtown, Broadway and Kilmore will be held in Lady's Island Community Centre tonight Tuesday, January 14, at 7.30 p.m. Come along to the meeting and see how you too can get involved. Oylegate Text Alert

It is time of year to sign up for the forthcoming text alert year. Under GDPR rules all participants need to sign a form to register for the coming year. These forms are available at Mernagh's or the Slaney Inn for collection. They need to be completed and handed back in to the committee, and your participation in this scheme is vital to help keep our community safe.

Senior citizens party

The annual senior citizens Christmas party will take place on Sunday, January 19.

Walking Track

The lights will be on at the walking track at the GAA Grounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the facility is available to all in the community, so come along and stay fit over the winter months. The couch to 5k group meet Wednesday evenings. All welcome to take part.

Notice of annual general meeting

Rosslare Harbour-Kilrane Village Development Team wish to inform the community of the Rosslare Harbour-Kilrane/St Helen's electoral area that the annual general meeting of the team will take place on Thursday, January 30, at 7.30 p.m. Venue will be notified at a later date. Motions shall be served on Maeve O'Brien secretary c/o the Resource Centre (email address) not later than 5 p.m. Thursday, January 23.

Active Retirement group

The annual general meeting will be on Tuesday, January 14, at the Railway Social Club at 3 p.m. A Committee Meeting will take place at 2 p.m.

Lagoons public meeting

A public meeting on lagoons in Co Wexford will take place in the community centre, Our Lady's Island on January 14 at 7.30 p.m.

The meeting will address water quality issues in the Wexford Lagoons Catchment and follows on from consultation on the draft River Basin Management Plan in 2017.

The Local Authority Waters Programme will be undertaking work gain a better understanding of what is happening in the Wexford Lagoons Priority Area for Action. Information on plans for this area will be made available at the public meeting.

This is a new approach to water quality management in Ireland. Come along to the meeting and hear how you too can get involved.

St Mary's GAA lotto

The lotto was not won €9,850. The numbers were 8, 18, 21 and 27 on January 7. No match-three winner. Lucky-dip winners Caroline Morrissey, Adrienne Larkin, Rosie MC Kenna, Stephen Wilde and Anita Ryan. Next draw is next year January 14 in the clubhouse at 8 p.m. and is €10,000. Tickets are €2 and can be bought off all Managers, players, committee and places around the parish.

Rosslare Strand

Public information event

A five-year community plan for Rosslare and its environs has been prepared to strategically direct the further enhancement of this area, so that it can maximise its potential for the benefit of all. A Public Information Event will be held on Monday, January 20, between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Rosslare Community and Sports Centre where the report recommendations will be unveiled. All are welcome to drop in and review the draft report, key findings and the results from the household/youth surveys.

Rosslare Youth Club

Following our Christmas break, we're back to our usual schedule and will meet every Friday at Rosslare Community from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. New members always welcome - see our Facebook page.

Boot Camp

Active Retirement

Our AGM will be held on January 14 at 10.30 a.m. in Coast Hotel, when membership will be renewed and a new committee will be elected. We hope there will be a good turnout for the AGM and we welcome all members and potential new members on that date. Our weekly coffee mornings continue each Tuesday at 10.30 a.m.

We plan to go to see Titanic by Wexford Light Opera in the National Opera House on Monday, April 27. The tickets cost €17.50 and names and money should be given to the treasurer as soon as possible. This early booking allows the seats to be booked early and all members to be seated together on the night.

We will have a guided tour of Johnstown Castle on January 20 at 2.30 p.m., and we plan to meet at the Castle Café at 1.30 for a light lunch beforehand. Our annual lunch is booked in Kelly's Hotel for Thursday, February 20, at 1 p.m., the cost for members is €15 pp, non-members are welcome to join us on the day cost €25 pp.

We have a holiday in the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport on April 19 for five nights b and b with four evening meals, daily guided tours on the four days plus entertainment in the hotel each night. This has been secured at a very good price of €395 pps all inclusive, some single rooms available at supplement of €20 per night. Names and deposits to be paid in January, further information at the meetings or coffee mornings. Finally a Happy New Year to all our members.

Bible Studies evening

A Bible studies evening will be held each Wednesday in the Fort Room, Rosslare Community Centre (7 p.m. to 8 p.m.). The evening will involve discussion in an informal and friendly setting. All are welcome; for more information contact Avril or Jenita at 086 6627681.

Cois Barry Community House

Cois Barry Community Centre in Rosslare Strand has teamed up with Kelly's Resort Hotel to introduce a free course in the Hospitality Industry. The course will include Barista training, Table waiting and Bar - Tending.
