Glynn-Barntown: Ferrycarrig Rowing Club D2D - On Saturday, June 29, this year, starting at 6am Ferrycarrig Rowing Club will take to the water on Wexford Quay Front to row non-stop for 16 hours (D2D - Dawn to Dusk).

It coincides with the fantastic event which is the Maritime Festival on the quay. We begin at dawn and finish at dusk. This as a fundraiser for FRC and the RNLI who are badly in need of funds at the moment. Your support for this very worthy cause would be very much appreciated. Call down to see us on June 29.

Glynn National School

Split-the-pot: Congratulations to Ciara and Mark Sinnott, who won €110 in the split-the-pot. The next split-the-pot will be on Saturday, July 6, in Declan's.

Rounders: The annual Celine Crean Rounders tournament took place on Monday, June 17, in Glynn-Barntown GAA pitch. Thanks to the GAA club for the use of their facilities and well done to all concerned.

Prize-giving: The prizes will be presented on June 26. This year the prizes will be presented by Tom Murphy, who is a past pupil of the school. Tom recently won the all-Ireland under-16 boxing title.

The End of Year Mass: This year the school Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, in the church. Mass will be followed by a slide show in the parish hall. The parents' association have organised refreshments for the sixth class pupils and their parents afterwards.

SOS (school's out for summer): School finishes on June 28 for the summer holidays. School re-opens on Monday, September 2. Have a happy holiday season everyone.

Tractor Run

Glynn Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, July 7, at one o'clock from Glynn Hall. Registration at 12 o'clock. Tea and sandwiches served following event. All welcome - see you all there.

Barntown Community Playground

Barntown Community Centre Development and Fundraising Committee is delighted to say that our community playground provider Spraoí Linn are due on site in Aug/September 2019.

School masses

The end of year school Mass will be celebrated in Glynn (tomorrow) Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. In Barntown the end of year Mass will take place on Thursday, June 27, at 9.30 a.m. A reception will follow at the school for principal Ms Lousia O'Brien, who after 13 years in the school, celebrates her retirement.

An invitation is extended to everyone to join us at both the Mass and the school, to mark this special occasion and show our appreciation of Louisa's contribution the school.

Good luck Kara

Congratulations to local girl, Kara Gabbett from Glynn on her recent appointed as a journalist for 'The Irish Field' Kara recently finished her studies in university of Limerick and is now based in Dublin for her new role. Best wishes Kara, for what promises to be a very exciting time ahead.

Church news

Volunteers: At any time, the parish is open to volunteers. Should you wish to volunteer for reading, to become a Eucharistic Minister, collector, altar society etc., please just come forward.

If possible, please check the weekly Newsletter where the next week's anniversary Masses are listed and please do not hesitate in coming to sacristy before Mass or ringing us if you notice something is not correct.


GB camogie club present yoga with Adrienne every Wednesday at seven. 30 p.m. in Glynn Hall. Attendance on a 'drop in' basis can be accommodated. €12 a night for adults.


Bingo continues in Marty B's every Thursday night from 8.30 p.m. A great evening of entertainment with the chance of winning a few bob. See you there.

School's 65th anniversary

Piercestown NS invites you to join them in celebrating the 65th anniversary of the current school building 1954-2019. Mass at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, followed by celebration and refreshments and the official opening of the Tranquility Spaces in 2019.

Parks Junior Tennis

Parks Junior Tennis for ages 6-16 will take place at St Martin's courts for four weeks beginning Monday, July 1, Rates are available for 2, three or four weeks. Forms have been placed in both Piercestown and Murrintown schools as well as in Londis shop.

Registration will take place at the courts on Friday, June 28, from 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Bookings can also be made by contacting 087 9266055.

Adult Tennis

Adult tennis sessions for beginners/improvers will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. starting Tuesday, July 2, Rackets and balls supplied - fee €5 p.a.y.g. All welcome to give it a go.

ARA Club news

Piercestown-Murrintown ARA will enjoy a barbecue today hosted at Scout and Guide Hall. All ARA Members are reminded to bring the draw prize for the end of year raffle. Have a great summer and club re-opens at St Martin's Community Centre on Tuesday, September 10, at 2.30. New members most welcome. thank you to everyone who supported the club over the past year.

Coach Trip; The group is heading to Westport in August for four days of fun and craic at the Castlecourt Hotel, Castlebar, Co Mayo. Currently the tour is fully booked. Final Payments to be made on Wednesday, July 17, at 7.30 in St Martin's Centre Piercestown. Non-members reminded to obtain own insurance cover for the trip. Open Garden

Alice Mernagh, Moorefield is holding a fundraising open garden day in aid of dogs for the disabled charity 17821 on Sunday, July 7, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a very special charity and the day will consist of tea, plant sale, raffle etc and a great opportunity for garden lovers to meet for a chat.

Variety concert

Carne Swim Week

Carne Swim week will take place this year from Monday, July 8, to Saturday, July 13, Wexford Water Safety run this course and cater for beginners up till safety four. Kilgarvan Patron

The annual patron in Kilgarvan Cemetery will take place as arranged on Sunday next, June 30, with Mass at 2 p.m. followed by blessing of graves.

There will be prayers in the cemetery on Saturday evening 29th, after 8 p.m. Mass to accommodate those intending to go to Croke Park on Sunday to support Wexford in the Leinster final.

St Garvan's Well

The annual walk to St Garvan's Well and ecumenical service will take place after 8 p.m. Mass on Saturday, July 6.

Anniversary Dance

The 10th Anniversary of the First Friday dances will be held on Friday, July 5, with the very popular Michael Collins providing the music to help all our supporters dance the night away in Camross Ballroom. There will be a free raffle for meal vouchers. Dancing 9.30 p.m. till midnight, adm. €10 including the tea. We hope to see you all there.

Caroreigh field day

The 51st Caroreigh field day will be held on Sunday, July 28. The Fancy Dress and vintage parade will lead off at 1.30 p.m. and all the usual side shows will be in action. More details later.

GAA club notes

Next up for the adult teams is ACL Hurling action on Friday away to Shamrocks. The Junior B teams are back in action with a first game back for the footballers against Duffry Rovers at home tonight at 8 p.m. Our under-15 Footballers are away to St Joseph's on Thursday night at 7.30.

The club will be doing clean-ups at the grounds on the next few Saturdays (at 10 a.m.) - please pop down and give s hand if you have an hour or two to spare.

Cúl Camps registration is now available online. The camp takes place in Taghmon during the first week of July. The clubs Academy for players aged 4-7 will be on at 6.30 every Monday during the summer (except for the bank holiday in August).

The lotto jackpot wasn't won last week so the jackpot increases to €13,400. The next draw takes place tonight. Please encourage any family or friends living away from the area to support the draw through the new online Taghmon-Camross page on the KlubFunder website. Tickets are also available through the usual channels.
