Bree-Galbally: Award winners - Congratulations to Bree Tidy Town Committee and to Bree CEP on winning a Tidy Town Co Endeavour Award at the recent annual award ceremony of Wexford County Council Environment Awards.

Congratulations also to Bree ICA as winners of the Best Community Project to improve accessibility to Infrastructure in Keep Wexford Beautiful Awards for 2019 for their ICA garden.

Bree Active Retirement

The November social of Bree ARA takes place in Bree Community Centre this Wednesday, November 20, Please bring your raffle tickets to this meeting. Christmas Craft Fair

Galbally Community Centre, will host a Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday next, November 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lots of local crafters will be in attendance with almost 20 tables already booked in with numerous gift ideas from a variety of vendors. Come and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, bring the kids to see Santa (who will arrive at 4 p.m.) and meet friends and neighbours while supporting your local Community Centre. St Stephen's Day Fun Run/Walk

The time to dust down the runners is approaching in time for Galbally's 'overindulgence' festive run, walk, trot or pram push. Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 5k fun run/walk on St Stephen's Day, December 26. The event will begin at midday, with registration taking place from 11.30 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, €10 for a family. Refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a fun community event.

Christmas Craft Fair

We are holding a Christmas Craft Fair to help us raise funds for the Enniscorthy Group of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust, who bring children and young adult from around the local area to Lourdes at Easter.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

There was no winner in the recent Ballyhogue GAA lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 1, 4, 22 and 28. Match-three winners were Dylan Codd, Michael Byrne, Sinéad Whelan, Tom Whelan, Hugh Malone, Ruth Finn, Tyler Macy, Keeva Hyland and Kevin O'Brien. Next draw is November 27 and the jackpot now stands at €4,600.

Bree Parish Journal

Preparations are under way for this year's edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready as soon as possible.

The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Draughts and Chess

Draughts and Chess classes take place in Bree Community Centre from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. All children from the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn under-eight-15 years are welcome to come along. Cost is €2 per child to a max of €5 per family.

Bree AC News

Congratulations to Jayden Kenny, who won a Leinster Medal in the recent Cross Country Championships. Bree AC AGM will take place in Bree Community Centre on Thursday, December 5, at 7.30 p.m. As this is our 50th AGM.

Indoor Athletic Training has resumed in Bree Community Centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for five- to 11-year-olds and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Bree Athletic Club members. Cost is €2 per child to max of €5 per family. Bree Bingo Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.

Bree NS enrolments

Scoil Seosaimh Naofa, Bree are currently seeking expressions of interest for Junior Infant enrolments for September 2020. If you wish to place your child's name on the enrolment list, please contact Melissa at reception 053 9247725 or email secretary@breens.ie enrolment packs will be forwarded to successful applicants in the Spring term of 2020.

We are also seeking information for future enrolments from 2021 onwards. Again, if interested, please contact school as above.

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes continue in Bree Community Centre with Grace Reddington on Thursday mornings from 10.15 a.m. to 11.45 a.m. and on Monday nights from 8.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Please bring your own mat. Cost is €10.

Coffee morning in aid of SERT Bus

There will be a coffee morning in Mernagh's lounge on Thursday, 21st. Nov. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in aid of SERT Bus and the Hope centre. We would appreciate your support. Hope to see you all on the day.

Pop Up Gaeltacht

The next Pop Up Gaeltacht will be in Mernagh's lounge on Friday, December 6, starting at 9.30 p.m. The idea is for people to meet informally in a relaxed atmosphere and to use whatever bit of Gaeilge they have. 'Light Up the Village'

This Community based idea is to bring a bit of Christmas Spirit to the village this year. On Saturday the seventh. Dec. the trees in the street will be lit up in conjunction with the trac-tor run for Pieta House. On Tuesday the 10th. Dec. a Community Christmas Night will take place on Powers Range. There will be a Remembrance Tree to remember our loved ones who have passed on. There will be carol singing, tea and coffee and mince pies.

The children from the School will be asked to draw Christmas pictures and same will be hung on the tree. There will be a box in Freemans for names for the Remem-brance tree - €2 per name and three names for €5 - the money donated will be given to charity. All are welcome to attend this memorable night.

Msgr. Séamus Doyle

There will be a Get Together for Msgr. Séamus Doyle in O'Brien's Inn, Glenbrien on Thursday, November 21, at 8 p.m.

Poker Classic

Poker classic continues every Friday night on Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate at 9.30 p.m.

Walking Track

The lights will be on at the walking track at the GAA Grounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the facility is available to all in the community, so come along and stay fit over the winter months.

Baby and Toddler Group

Baby and Toddler Group meet every Tuesday (Term-Time) in Glenbrien Old School Centre from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Contact Claire Atkinson 087 1373579.

Bingo in Mernaghs

The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to raise much needed funds to assist with helping the girls in Coláiste Bride Enniscorthy to work with the IHCPT trip in Lourdes, bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.

The sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives and friends of the late Jim Kinsella, The Cottage, Raheenduff, who passed to his eternal reward on Thursday, November 14. Jim was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Margaret and will be sadly missed by his brothers Pat and Tommy, nieces. nephews, the Morton Family, other relatives neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his brother John and his sisters Mary and Margaret. The late Mr Kinsella was laid to rest in Oulart Cemetery after Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 16. Oulart senior citizens

The committee which organises the annual Christmas party for Oulart senior citizens will run bingo in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 1, beginning at 8 p.m. Your generous support would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

The organisers of the recent 'Bingo for Wexford Hurling' extend a sincere thank-you to all who helped to make the fundraiser such a great success. A considerable sum was raised from the bingo and the raffle and many of the youngsters present took the opportunity to meet the Wexford hurling stars who attended with the Leinster Minor and senior trophies. Shaun Murphy, Keith Rossiter, Paul Morris, Simon Donohoe, Kevin Foley and Liam Ryan were the current stars in attendance. Congratulations to Ciara Blake, who won the main raffle prize-a signed Wexford jersey that was worn by Shaun Murphy in the all-Ireland semi-final.

Oulart ICA

Four members of Oulart ICA attended Leisure Max on Friday, November 6, and competed in the annual Wexford Federation Bowling competition. The participants were divided into teams of five players, from various ICA Guilds. Congratulations to Cathy Keating, who featured on the winning team and to Ellen McCallion who was on the second placed team. Marie Poirott and Breda Jacob were the other Oulart representatives. The competition was organised and excellently run by Oulart's efficient secretary Anne O'Connor, who is the games organiser for Wexford Federation.

Christmas Cards

The parents' association of Scoil Mochua are producing Christmas Cards as part of their fundraising activities, this year. Packs of 10 cards will be on sale for €8.

Craft Fair

Oulart Community Centre will host a Craft Fair on Sunday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like to book a stall or if you require further information please contact Theresa at 086 8227077.


Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot organisers congratulate its latest winner-John-Joe Hyland, who gets €129. The next draw will take place on November 18. Entry envelopes are available from the school and from local businesses.

Scór na nÓg

GAA, camogie, Rounders and handball members with an interest in song, dance, variety, music etc represent their club and enter the Scór Talent Competitions. The New Ross/Wexford semi-final of Scór na nÓg took place in Rathangan Hall on November 15 while the Enniscorthy/Gorey semi-final was held in Oulart Community Centre on the following night, Saturday, November 16. The county final, featuring the qualifiers from the semi-finals will take place in Oulart on Friday, November 22. The Scór na nÓg table quiz will be held in St, Martin's GAA Complex on Thursday, November 28.

Club lotto

The lotto draw takes place every two weeks. The prize fund is now €15,000. The winning numbers at the last draw were 8, 12, 16 and 19 and the bonus number was 13. The five €30 lucky-dip winners were Timmy McCormack, Kieran Sinnott, Mel, Dara and Éanna Swords, Michelle Harding and Noeleen and K. O'Connor. All money made from the lotto go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the club. A big thank you to everyone who continually support the lotto every two weeks.

AGM change of date

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club's annual general meeting that was fixed for Friday, November 29, had to be re-arranged on account of a clash with the Dáil Bye-Election Vote that takes place on the same date, at the same venue. The new date for the AGM is Saturday, November 30, at 7.30 p.m. The re-scheduled date and new venue for the annual Coiste na nÓg End of Year Meeting is Friday, November 22, at 8.30 p.m. in the Ballagh National School.

Under-14 hurling

The boys are progressing well in the Martin Storey Tournament with recent victories over Oylegate-Glenbrien and St Anne's. They have two more group games to play, against St Martin's and Buffers Alley. Best of luck to the panel, their manager Philip Rossiter and selectors Alan O'Connor and Dean O'Connor.

Camogie Fundraiser

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club are hosting a fundraiser 'Look Good-Feel Good' on Sunday, November 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Riverside Hotel. There will be various demonstrations throughout the afternoon including Floral Arranging, Kinesiology, Make-Up, Grooming and a Fashion Show. There will also be numerous stands of crafts and Artisan foods, Style Items, Gift Ideas etc around the room. Tickets at €10 are available from players and committee.


Following the completion of a very successful Foundation Coaching Course in Oulart the club congratulates the participants and thanks the course tutors Ray Harris and Murt Flynn, who presented the course in three modules. The input of the new coaches and the continued service of those already trained is a very positive asset for our club.

Coiste na nÓg Bingo

On Sunday, November 10, the bingo in Oulart Community Centre was in aid of Coiste na nÓg and €900 was raised. Míle buíochas to all who attended and helped organise the bingo.

Bus to Blanchardstown

On November 30 a bus to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre will leave Blackwater at 8 a.m. and Oulart at 8.20 a.m. and will arrive in Blanchardstown at 10 a.m. approximately. Shoppers will have till 5 p.m. to shop The bus fare is only €20. For full details ring David at 087 9562978.
