Bree-Galbally: Bree Youth Club Carol Singing - Our annual Carol Singing in Bree will be held after 7pm. Mass on December 21 outside the church. There will be some hot refreshments available for everyone afterwards in the hall. We hope to see you all there.

Scoil Eoin Baiste

The Scoil Eoin Baiste Christmas concert due to be held on Thursday, December 12, will now take place on Tuesday, December 17, at 7.30 p.m. in Galbally Community Centre. Our planned Carol Service will now take place on Monday, January 6, at 10 a.m. in the church.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in this week's GAA lotto were 1, 4, 14 and 15. The jackpot winner of €1,000 was David Conway. Galbally St Stephen's Day Fun Run/Walk

The time to dust down the running/walking shoes is approaching in time for Galbally's' Christmas Jumper' festive run, walk, trot or pram push. Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 5k fun run/walk on St Stephen's Day, December 26.The event will begin at midday, with registration taking place from 11.30 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, €10 for a family. Refreshments will beserved in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along, wear your Christmas jumper and getinvolved in what promises to be a fun community event. All funds raised go towards renovation and development of Galbally Hall.

Senior citizens Tea Party

Bree Macra is hosting a Bree senior citizens Afternoon Tea Party on Sunday, January 5, 2020, from two to 4.30 p.m. All senior citizens living in the parish of Bree are invited to join them for an afternoon of tea, treats, chats, entertainment and festive fun. Invites are being distributed by members throughout December, but please contact Cait at 086 4046545 if you have not received your invite by December 23, or for further information.

Youth Club winter Fun Run/Walk

It's that time of year again for the annual winter Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Participants can choose from a 10k or 5k. Prices are €10 for adults, €5 for under-16 and kids go free. Registration starts at 11.30 a.m. and race will be kicking off at 1 p.m. Raffle and spot prizes available on the day.


Community Text Alert

Two nights will be held in the Old School Centre at 8 p.m. on Monday, December 16, and Monday, January 6, to collect the text alert subscriptions and also allow new GDPR forms to be signed by all members. Please ensure you can attend on one of these nights as we will be unable to include anyone who has not paid nor completed a form to remain on the text alert scheme.

ICA News

The ICA wish to thank all those who supported the coffee morning held on Thursday last. Congratulations to all who won prizes in the raffle. Thanks also to Eamonn and Sue Mernagh for the use of the premises. A recent wreath making class was enjoyed by all.

A church gate collection in aid of County Wexford Community Workshop (Enniscorthy) will take place on weekend of December 28/29. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Oylegate Text Alert

It is time of year to sign up for the forthcoming text alert year. Under GDPR rules all participants need to sign a form to register for the coming year. These forms are available at Mernagh's or the Slaney Inn for collection. They need to be completed and handed back in to the committee, and your participation in this scheme is vital to help keep our community safe.

Bingo In Mernaghs

Next Thursday night is Christmas Bingo night and everyone is encouraged to wear their Christmas Jumpers and hats on the night, bingo commences at 9.15 on Thursday night.

Coffee morning

At a recent coffee morning held in Mernagh's lounge Oylegate a total of €860 was raised for the SERT bus and the Hope Centre. Many thanks to all who supported the morning, it is greatly appreciated.

Book Launch

On behalf on the GAA A big congratulations to Joe Casey, who recently launched his book '60 Years at the Cutting Edge' in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate. The book is currently on sale and is available from Pat Murphy 087 2206305, from Mernaghs Lounge, or from any commit member. All proceeds from the book is going to Oylegate GAA Club.

Senior citizens party

The annual senior citizens Christmas party will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Poker classic continues every Friday night in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate at 9.30 p.m.

Baby and Toddler Group

Baby and Toddler Group gathering every Tuesday (Term-Time) in Glenbrien Old School Centre from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is an opportunity for young children and their carers (parents/grandparents/childminders) to meet. Christmas Lights

Oulart Christmas Lights Committee would like to extend their sincere thanks to the following for their help:

Jason Medd (Ballycanew Lights Committee), councillor Mary Farrell for all her help to erect new poles, Séamus Dempsey, Brendan McGraynor and John Dempsey for making and erecting the Christmas Tree, Brendan Redmond (electrician(), the committee members who led the way and fundraised and helped in many ways to ensure that Oulart Village would be illuminated for Christmas.

The committee decided that on account of all the recent local bereavements there would be no formal and official 'switching on' of the lights but they are there now as a shining example of what can be achieved when people work together. Indeed, many hands make lights work.

Church Fund-Christmas Draw

Tickets for the annual Oulart Church 'Christmas Draw' have been delivered to the houses in the parish. Your generous support would be greatly appreciated. Míle buíochas to all who donated prizes for the draw. Among the valuable prizes are a Christmas Hamper,€100 and other Cash prizes, Coal Nuggets, Shopping Vouchers, Christmas Cake and many other seasonal prizes. Tickets must be returned to the Parochial House. To draw co-ordinator Joan Doyle or to Pierce Redmond's Shop, Raheenduff no later than December 21.

Christmas Choir

Rehearsals for choir for Christmas will continue on Tuesday, December 17, in the well-heated St Mochua's Chapel 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

'Greetings from Oulart' Christmas Cards

The parents' association of Scoil Mochua are producing Christmas Cards as part of their fundraising activities. Packs of 10 cards will be on sale for €8, €15 for two packs and €20 for three packs. The cards can be bought at Oulart post office, Lar Corrigan's Supermarket and Pierce Redmond's Raheenduff.

Oulart split-the-pot

Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot organisers congratulate its latest winner-Saoirse Barrans - who won €116. The next draw will be held on December 15.

Fundraiser for Scoil Mochua

John-Joe and Aisling Hyland are selling Christmas Trees at a cost of €30 each, with all proceeds going to the local primary school. The trees can be bought and collected from Hyland's Nursery on Fridays or Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Christmas Jumper/Casual Clothes Day

The Parents' Association of Scoil Mochua invite pupils to wear a Christmas jumper or casual clothes of their choice, on Thursday, December 20, and to donate at least €2 (or whatever suits their family) in aid of the Paediatric Unit in Wexford Hospital.

Martin Storey Tournament

The finals of the annual Martin Storey Tournament were played in Oulart on Sunday, December 8. Congratulations to Monageer-Boolavogue on winning Division 3, to Duffry-Rovers on winning Division 2 and to the home team, Oulart-The Ballagh on winning Division 1.

Míle buíochas to Willie Cleary for organising the Tournament, to Martin Storey and Ray Harris, who presented the medals to the winning teams and the 'Most Improved Player' trophies.

Thank you also to Hamish Stuart, who led the parades playing the Bagpipes. Well done also to club chairman Bartle Sinnott and the club volunteers who looked after the pitch, car-park, refreshments, dressing-rooms, stewarding and umpiring, ensuring that everything ran smoothly on the day.

The following officers were elected at the AGM of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club that took place on November 30: chairperson Bartle Sinnott, Joint Vice-chairpersons Martin Dempsey and Peter Kennedy, secretary Niamh Sinnott, Joint-treasurers Martin Redmond and Geraldine Doyle, Irish Officer Breda Jacob, PRO Liz Freeman, Co. Board Representative Ger Doyle, Children's Officer Adam Nolan, Healthy Club Officer, Breda Flood.

300 Club Draw

The prize-winners in October were Aodhagán and Emer Swords (€100), Michael and Margaret Leacy (€50), George Blackburn (€50). Kevin Kennedy, Lar Sutton and Mary and Paidh Doyle won similar prizes in the November draw.

Club lotto

The numbers drawn on Monday, December 9, were 4, 14, 29 and 31. The Bonus number was 10. The prize-fund was 15,000 and there was no outright winner. The lucky-dip winners of €30 each were: Jenny McLoughlin, Ethan Freeman, Nuala Doyle, Emma and Bailey O'Connor and Bridget O'Toole. The next draw will take place in the GAA complex on Sunday, December 22. Book of six for €10. Book of 12 for €20.
