Bree-Galbally - Easter Monday Fun in Galbally: Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will hold a number of events on Easter Monday, April 22, There will be an indoor and outdoor market/car boot sale on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. selling crafts, books and many other items of interest. €15 per stall/pitch. The Galbally Duck Race will also be held on Monday the 22nd at Wilton Mills, Craan, Bree. The race will start at 3 p.m. and will be live-streamed into Galbally Hall. Ducks cost €10 each and are on sale in local shops, pubs and from any committee member. Come along and get involved in the fun, take part in the Easter egg hunt, the egg decorating competition and meet the Easter bunny while contributing towards the renovation of our local hall and the rejuvenation of our local community. All funds raised will go towards the renovation of Galbally Hall.

Hope Cancer Centre CD
Singer Peter Hughes of Galbally has produced a five track CD in aid of the Hope Centre, Enniscorthy. The CD, which includes his No one Hit single 'Keep on the Sunny Side', is on sale locally and in the Cancer Support Shop on Mill Park Road, Enniscorthy at €10. Support would be appreciated.
Phase two of the Bree Playground has been approved and is due for completion by the end of April. Support is needed to share the responsibility of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Donations are welcome on instagram or Facebook app 'gofundme.com/breeplayground'. Your support for this wonderful new facility for all children in our locality would be very much appreciated.

Well done to all participants taking part in the recent quiz county finals. The team of George Murphy, Cormac Fleming, Lara Donegan, Aoibhe Donegan with subs Jarleth Kelly and Orlaith Flynn won the silver medals after a tie breaker for first place.
At the Leinster quarter finals in Carlow recently, the under-12 Draughts team was defeated by Tinryland 6-14. Team members were George Murphy, Oisin Harte, Nathan Doyle, Matthew Jordan and Cathal O'Brien. Team manager was Martin Humphrey.
The local mini rugby team of Rian Boland, Larry Sludds, Jayden Kenny, Jack Doyle, PJ Breen, James Wall, James Breen, Tom Finn and Sam Devereux were beaten by Tullow 8-5. This scoreline does not reflect the closeness of this tough game as the sides were level with three minutes to go. Team mentor was Andy Fraser. There was consolation for the players as they received their Co Gold medals after the game. Well done to all involved.
Bree AC News
Outdoor training for Bree AC athletes takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for four to eight years has resumed on Mondays only in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The next outing for the club will be St Senan's AC Open Sports on Easter Monday. Well done to all involved in Ferrybank AC Open Sports recently where Bree AC was runner-up to United Striders as overall club.
Bree Bingo continues every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. €10 per book and extra bonus sheets will be sold on the night for €2.
Bree Easter Ceremonies
Penitential Service and Confessions on this Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m. in Bree Church. Mass of the Last Supper at 8 p.m. on Holy Thursday. Passion of Christ at 3 p.m. on Good Friday with Stations of the Cross that evening at 7.30 p.m. Vigil Mass on Easter Saturday evening at 8 p.m. and Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Easter Sunday morning.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife sons, daughter, relatives and friends of Johnny Doyle, formerly Carrig, who died recently.
The parents' association are organising a summer raffle and Social Night. The children will each receive a raffle card and the raffle tickets cost €2 a line with the following prizes.
First Prize: €150 One for All Voucher. Second prize: €100 One for All Voucher. Other prizes include €50 Beautiful U voucher, a €50 O'Briens Inn food voucher, along with various hampers including cosmetics, Gin and beer and An Usbourne Book Hamper. Rackard League Hurling
The primary schoolboys from Oulart-The Ballagh parish have qualified for the semi-final of the top division by their splendid victory over Glynn-Barntown last week.
The full-time score of 7-11 to 0-8 demonstrates how emphatic the victory was as the boys in red and black showed their wonderful skill and determination. Congratulations to the panel and their teachers/mentors, Mr Nolan and Mr McDonald.
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie 'Red and Black Play and Stay Nursery' for boys and girls aged four to five years (born 2014 and 2015) starts on Saturday, April 27, 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Registration is €20. Contact Liz Freeman at 087 7560871 for further information.
All GAA and camogie age groups are back in training and the two pitches and the Hurling Wall/astroturf are a hive of activity most evenings. The Walking Track is also being well utilised by the local community as it provides a safe area for young and not-so-young to take a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk, at any time throughout the day and into the evening.
On Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. the under-13 hurlers are at home to Glynn-Barntown in the championship. The intermediate hurlers play Ballygarrett in Gorey at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, while on the following day, Sunday, April 21, our senior hurlers will play Rathnure at 6 p.m. in Bellefield. On the same day our junior hurlers are at home to Oylegate-Glenbrien at 11.30 a.m. The under-15 hurlers play Rapparees, in Oulart on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 30, the under-13 boys are away to Buffers Alley at 7.15 p.m.
Hope and Dream
Many members of the GAA and camogie club took part in the Hope and Dream Walk/Run recently, thereby helping to raise vital funds for a very worthy cause. Congratulations and well done to the organisers and our local participants.
At a recent meeting of the Ballagh Active Retirement Group a calendar of events for 2019 was drawn up, including a Mid-Week Getaway to Racket Hall Country House Hotel, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, from June 17 to June 20. The all-inclusive price of €235 includes three nights dinner, bed and Breakfast, return Coach travel from the Ballagh, two Day Coach tours to places of interest in the surrounding area and Evening Entertainment. Bingo for Community Centre
The Ballagh Community Centre will hold a fundraising bingo on Saturday, April 20, at 8 p.m. This bingo session is to help towards the upkeep and maintenance of the local Community Centre that is such a vitally important facility in the parish.
