Blackwater: GAA Notes - Fixtures for the week: Tonight (Tuesday) under-13 Hurling v Crossabeg-Ballymurn in Blackwater at 7.30 p.m. Thursday Junior B Hurling Championship against St Martin's at 7.30 p.m. in Piercestown. Sunday Minor Hurling Championship v Ballynestragh Gaels in our pitch at 11.
Massive well done to Darren Byrne and the Wexford senior Hurling team who defeated Kilkenny in the Leinster Hurling Final. Also well done to Lar Lacey, who is a selector with the under-20 Hurling team who defeated Offaly in the Leinster semi-final.
A very late Tomás Murphy goal insured the Junior B hurlers came away with victory in the junior b Hurling Championship against Crossabeg-Ballymurn. It was a brilliant exhibition of Hurling and the lads were trailing by one up till mossy goaled three minutes into injury time.
The intermediate hurlers lost the last round of the league to Crossabeg-Ballymurn by six points.
Well done to the minor footballers on a 7-11 to a 2-08 victory over Castletown in the championship. Scorers were Ross Berry 3-2, Johnny O'Toole 1-1, Kealan Fikentscher 1-0, Adam Murphy 1-0, Ian O'Reilly 1-0, Séamus Walsh 0-3, Conor Byrne 0-1, Jimmy Whelan 0-2, Ollie Murphy 0-1.
The golf classic will be taking place on August 23 in Enniscorthy Golf Club with teams of four for €200. Usual prizes while there is tee/green sponsorship available.
This week 25 years ago, our under-12 hurlers played Clonard in the district final and lost out by six points. Beg Keg Tournament
Crossabeg AFCs annual seven a side Beg Keg tournament will take place on Saturday, July 13, in their local pitch at Newcastle. Entry fee for a team of 10 will cost €100. For further information, please contact Peter Culleton at 087 7798384 or Eoin Kelly at 086 2598311.
The annual patron in Ballymurn will take place on August 18.
Although a small number of boys and girls travelled to the County Community Games athletic events in the Hub in Enniscorthy on Sunday of last week, they excelled themselves and over the course of four hours amassed a number of medals. All of them competed well and most featured in Heats, semis and finals.
Thanks from the committee to the parents who brought their children to the event and for helping out on the day. Thanks also to Bevin and Alice, who looked after the singlets and numbers and got the children to their respective events. Thanks also to Kate Freeman and Ella Barry, who helped out at the finish line and also sold programmes.
At the end of the day, the area had four gold medallists who will now travel to Limerick in August for the national finals. The athletes also took home Relay medals and a number of individual medals. We congratulate all of them. Those, who will head to Limerick in August are Kyra Jarvis (gold under-eight. 60m) Kayla Doyle (under-10.10OM) Chloe Reck (under-12.10OM) and Eimear Halpin (under-16 Discus).
The under-10 mixed Relay team of Ethan Jarvis, Zach Furlong, Kayla Doyle, Cara Murphy, Lorna Furlong took home the silver medals and the under-13 Mixed Relay team of Mia Furlong, Seán McLoughlin, Chloe Reck, Cameron Sheil and Bronagh Boggan took home the bronze medals. Individual silver medals were won by Jack Halpin (Shot Putt under-14) Bronagh Boggan (under-14 Hurdles) Lorna Furlong (under-10 Hurdles) Anna Finan (under-16.200m) Zach Furlong (under-10. 10OM) Cara Murphy (under-10.10OM) Kara Morrissey (under-12.100m).
A Bronze medal was won by Ella Barry (Shot Putt under-14) and the under-13 Mixed Relay team of Jamie Martin, Cameron Sheil, Mia Murphy, Chloe Reck, Seán McLoughlin.
A grand total of four gold, seven individual silver plus six on Relay; one bronze plus five Relay.

Oulart-The Ballagh personnel had a huge involvement in the successes of the county teams in the Leinster senior and minor finals in Croke Park on Sunday, June 30. Shaun Murphy gave a sterling display in defence for the seniors while Jim Finn was a member of the extended panel with the minors. Keith Rossiter was a selector with the senior team while David Redmond did likewise with the minors.
Congratulations to two Oulart-The Ballagh underage stars, Jason Rossiter and Ben Harpur, who were selected on the Wexford Rackard League team that played a Kilkenny primary-school selection in Croke Park on Leinster Final Day.
GAA Cúl Camps
Upwards to 140 youngsters enrolled in the annual GAA summer Camp that began in Oulart on July 1. The weather was ideal, the coaches were enthusiastic and the boys and girls were actively engaged for the duration. In addition, the children received fashionable gear and useful kit-bags. A second Cúl Camp will be held in Oulart in August.
The interior of the community centre has undergone a facelift, having been recently painted. It will be open for viewing after Mass on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st when everyone is invited to drop in for a cuppa and refreshments. The committee extend their sincere thanks to Seán Doyle, who generously donated the paint for the project. And if anyone would like to make a donation towards the painting it would be greatly appreciated. The community centre is a vital amenity in Oulart and is there to be availed of and used. The latest winner of Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot is Janet McLoughlin who won €129.The school benefits to the same amount as the winners. The next draw will take place on July 8. Entry envelopes are available from the school and from local businesses. The parents' association say 'thank-you' to all who regularly play split-the-pot in support of the local primary school.

Joan & friends fun run
Joan Kavanagh and friends are organising a Charity Fun Run/Walk/Jog to be held on Sunday, July 14, at 4 p.m. in Oulart. It will start outside Oulart Hill Bar and the entry fee is €10 for adults and €2 for children.

The Staff of St. Margaret's national school, Curracloe wish to thank all the parents, volunteers and local community for their support this year. The `Clean Screen` team have entered the "Keep Wexford beautiful" competition. On Friday July 12th they will meet at 9 a.m to sweep and clean paths etc and on Saturday, July 13th will meet at 8.30 a.m to finish off the painting and any other job. They are asking for volunteers for both days. A number of people cannot help due to being sick and injured, so they are very scarce on helpers to do the work. They would be very grateful and thankful to anyone who can give them a hand even if it is just for one hour of your time as judging for the competition will take place during this month.

The Clean Screen team will hold their annual Churchgate collection at Screen church on Sunday July 14th. Your generous support would be appreciated.
The 79th Castlebridge Horticultural and Agricultural show will take place on Sunday, August 11th, so it is time to get busy in your gardens. Preparations are all underway for another brilliant show day. Castlebridge Show committee would like to thank Syl Doyle of Wilton Garden centre for a great garden talk and demonstration held on June 5th. Despite the rain there was a great turn out, and those in attendance received plenty of helpful tips on all aspects of gardening.
