Blackwater: Active Retirement - The group is going on a trip to Mayo from May 25 to May 28 2020, three night stay in Breaffy House Hotel.

Cost €240 per person sharing, single upplement is €20 per night. The cost includes coach pick up, return (use of coach for the three days), and dinner each evening. Polling station change

PLEASE NOTE - Change of venue for voting in the General Election on Saturday, February 8, will be in Blackwater Parish Hall AND NOT in Blackwater National School.

GAA notes

Well done to Tomas Murphy, who scored a first half hat trick with St Peter's College on Wednesday against local rivals Good Council to send them on their way to the next round of the Senior Football Championship.

Well done to under-nine hurler Seán O'Leary, who won a draw to be the Wexford teams mascot against Clare in the first round of the league.

Art and Craft Workshops for children

Children's Art and Craft classes for aged four to nine years are taking place in Ballygarrett GAA Complex for six weeks, starting Saturday, February 15, and continuing till March 21. Time: 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.

Classes will also commence for children aged 10 to 13 years and these are taking place in Ballygarrett GAA Complex for six weeks, starting Saturday, February 15, and continuing till March 21. Time: 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Slaney Adventure Race

The Slaney Adventure Race will take place this Saturday, February 8, same routes and events as last year. Cycle 30k (from Bree Community Centre), Kayak 1k (Killurin), Run 6.5k forest run (finish in Bree Community Centre). See Facebook page for link to registration.

Community Centre AGM

Bree Community Centre AGM will take place on Monday, February 10, at 8.30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and all organisation using the community centre are especially asked to be represented.

Rowing Club AGM

Edermine Ferry Rowing Club is holding its AGM on Tuesday, February 11, in Bree Hall at 8 p.m.

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes with Grace have resumed in Bree Community Centre Dance Studio on Mondays at 8.15 p.m. and on Thursday mornings at 10.15 a.m. Sessions are €10.

Ballyhogue dinner dance

Ballyhogue GAA Club and Ballyhogue Ladies' Football Club dinner dance takes place on Friday, February 28, in the Riverside Park Hotel at 8 p.m. Music is by Denny Davitt and the Heartbeats. Tickets cost €30 and available from Melissa Dawson 087 9627866.

Bree Parish Journal

Bree Parish Journal No 19 is now on sale. The journal covers many of the events and activities in the area over the past two years as well as a number of items of historical interest. The cost of the journal is €10 and it is available in Byrnes of Bree, Keeleys Ballybrennan, Londis Tomnalosset and also in the Bookshops in Enniscorthy and Wexford.

Macra 60th Anniversary Dinner

The Bree Macra 60th Anniversary dinner dance is taking place in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy on Friday, March 27, Tickets are €35 and are available from any committee member. For more information please contact 087 7660602.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

Since we relaunched the lotto last March the jackpot has been won three times. We have had over 130 match-three winners and paid out approximately €20,000 in prize money. Your support is extremely important to the success of our club and we have plans to develop the grounds in the next few years especially for the underage.

We would appreciate if you would consider renewing your annual subscription in the next few weeks or if you are not yet a member joining our lotto. It is €21 a month by standing order or €250 in a one off payment for 12 months of draws. You also get a free model county draw ticket worth €50. Grandparents Day

Holy Family Glenbrien celebrated Grandparents Day, as part of Catholic Schools week . Following mass Over 100 grandparents & grandfriends gathered in the school hall for refreshments provided by the Parents. Musical entertainment was then provided by all the children. The grandparents then got to spend time with the children in their classrooms & play some games. Yet again it was another special day for all those who attended.

Gardens in Church grounds

The Gardens are a place for people to visit for a quite prayer or reflection during day light hours. Please NO litter, NO smoking, NO alcohol, NO drug use and NO loitering after dark.

Walking Track

The lights will be on at the walking track at the GAA Grounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the facility is available to all in the community, so come along and stay fit over the winter months. The couch to 5k group meet Wednesday evenings. All welcome to take part.

Bingo In Mernaghs

The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to help raise funds for Oylegate-Glenbrien camogie club. Bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Local Link Wexford

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages.

The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.

Operation Transformation

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club, through its Healthy Club Officer, Breda Flood has signed up, once again for the RTÉ Operation Transformation 'Ireland Lights Up' that was so successful in 2019. Beginning on Monday, January 13, and continuing till February 24, the lights at the Upper Pitch will be on Monday nights from 7 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. to enable walkers/runners to participate. People are asked to sign-in so that the numbers taking part can be recorded.

Baptisms in Oulart

Oulart and Ballaghkeene Baptism dates for 2020 have been published and will take place on Saturdays at midday or 4 p.m. Three weeks' notice is required. Bingo in Oulart

Bingo is held in Oulart Community Centre every Sunday night, beginning at 8 p.m. Books are €10 with valuable cash prizes. The jackpot now stands at more than €400. We would ask as many people as possible to support the bingo because not only does it act as a fundraiser, it is also a great way of making and meeting friends and parishioners for a chat.

GAA/camogie registration

There will be a Club Registration night on Tuesday, February 4, from 8.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in Oulart Community Centre.
