Parkinson's coffee morning

A coffee morning will be held in Grantstown Daycare Centre on Monday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to midday. All money raised will go to the Wexford branch of the Parkinson's Association.

Beginners Computer Course

Another beginners computer course will commence in Grantstown Daycare Centre on Wednesday, April 3, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for five weeks. This is a free course and laptops will be supplied by the tutor, so all you need to bring is yourself. Spaces are limited so phone reception at 051 561016 to book your place.


The chiropodist will be in Grantstown Daycare Centre on Tuesday and Thursday, April 2, and four, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phone 051 561016 to book your appointment. This service is available to everyone in the community.

Public Library Services

The mobile library will be in Grantstown Daycare Centre on Wednesday, April 3, from 3.10 p.m. to 3.40 p.m.

GAA club news

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €11,600. Tickets are only two euro each and can be purchased from Doyle's Carrig, Seabreeze drycleaners, Tír na nÓg, Costcutters, Staffords Tullycanna and from any club officer.

The membership deadline is upon us. Late payment fees will be introduced.

Congratulations to Dean O'Neill, who won his all-Ireland Handball Final in Cavan.

The Intermediate Footballers play in the second round of the championship this Saturday in Taghmon at 3.30 against St Mary's Rosslare.

LIVELY got throu to the next round of the LGFA in the talent show. The band consists of Dion, Darren, Jack and Seán. Well done lads and best of luck.

Thanks to Tommy Keating, who is selling the Modal County tickets door to door at the moment. Tickets are €50 for three draws. First draw will take place on May 1. Best of luck to all in the draw.

Bannow 1169 Norman Festival

On May 4 and five Bannow 1169 will commemorate the 850th anniversary of the first Norman landing in Ireland with a festival in Carrig-on-Bannow and a civic ceremony at Bannow Church. Battle reenactments, a living history tented village, historical lectures, a commemorative ceremony and concerts featuring local and Norman musicians will mark what is the most important and consequential event in Irish history.

The weekend will begin with the tented village being installed in a field in Carrig-on-Bannow where the battle reenactments will take place over two days. There will be 14 living history tents, 15 living history craft displays, a display of Norman cavalry warfare and fully trained warriors for the displays twice each day.

There will be warrior training for children each day after the battles plus free have a go at archery for the children along with free Norman replica coins.

A civic ceremony will take place at Bannow Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, to which leading dignitaries will be invited.

On both May 4 and five there will be historical lectures in the marquee in the village. On Saturday we have Turtle Bunbury and on Sunday Emmet Stafford will be the guest speaker.

On both Saturday and Sunday there will be concerts in the marquee at Colfer's pub. On Saturday the inaugural performance of a specially commissioned piece by Greg French will be performed by the Danescastle school senior band along with other local guests. Our friends from Normandy, Strand Hugg will complete the concert. Sundays concert will again feature Strand Hugg along with the local band Green Road.

Social dancing

dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday four th April by Bandit, April 11 our fifth Anniversary dance with music by Pat Daly, April 18 Mary Pendergast and April 25 Adrian Ryan. All welcome refreshments served.

Tops Gala Concert

KRH Tops Community Group pesents a one night only Gala Tops show performed by our multi-talented cast and with special guests Ballycogley Players, in Our Lady's Island Community Hall this Friday, April 5, at 7.30 p.m. Music by Ceoltoiri Munna and dance performances by Sheila Grace Dance Co.

Junior A Football

Our men travel to Farmleigh Park this Sunday for a 3 p.m. Championship game against Marshalstown-Castledockrel. All support is very welcome.

Same Old Moon

Ballycogley Players will present their play 'Same Old Moon' in Our Lady's Island Community Centre on Thursday, 18th, Friday - tickets €10 will be availabe at the door.

St Paul's AC.

We held our first 'Mini Olympics' Event of 2019 last Wednesday and what a success it was with 41 children participating, congratulations and well done to all of you and thank you to all parents/guardians who helped out on the night.

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up, Sunday, April 7, is Ferrybank AC Open Track and Field Sports Day, Sunday the 21st is our own St Paul's Easter Road Race followed by St Senan's A.C Open Track and Field Sports Day on Easter Monday full details on our Facebook page.

We would encourage as many athletes as possible to compete in these events as it is great experience for them ahead of the Mr Oil County Juvenile Track and Field Championships which take place over the first two Sundays May at the track in Enniscorthy full details to follow. We wish Maeve Hayes and Danika Gilsinan the very best of luck this weekend in Day 1 and two of the all-Ireland Indoor Track and Filed Championships in Athlone.


Art Exhibition

The grand opening of the annual Piercestown NS Art Exhibition will take place on Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. Tea and coffee will be provided by the parents' association on the night. Why not come along and see the beautiful artwork by the children in our school.

ARA Club news

21 people enjoyed a great day visiting Nicholas Mossed Pottery and Smithwicks Brewery in Kilkenny, followed by some 'retail therapy' in the Kilkenny shops. A lovely evening meal was enjoyed in Horse and Hound on way home. Thank you to everyone who travelled with the group.

Day Trip - On Tuesday, April 16, the group will take a trip on the Kilmeaden Steam Train in Waterford, followed by visit to the.

Japanese Gardens in Tramore and some free time in Tramore. Meal on way home in Horse and Hound Restaurant. Price including Coach €50 pp. A minimum of 20 is required for this trip.

Easter Draw - four hampers. Draw will take place on Sunday, April 21, in Londis Piercestown. Lines for sale from any members of ARA Group and in Londis. €2 a line or three lines for €5.

Knockingall Community Centre

Thank you to everyone who supported our line selling in Londis Piercestown, and thank you to Michael and staff for all their help. Draw took place on Thursday night, March 28, and the winner's name will be posted in Londis shop, Community Centre and in the paper next week. Your support is very much appreciated.

This fundraising is for the replacement of seals on our Skylight windows in the centre as they are perished.

Micheál Martin visit

Leader of Fianna Fail, Micheál Martin TD will visit the parish on Thursday April 4 for the launch of Lisa McDonald's local elections campaign. He will also attend a meeting in Murrintown Community Centre at 8.30 p.m.

Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €3,200. The winning numbers were 14, 22, 32 and 34. There were no match-three winners. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, April 2, and the jackpot now stands at €3,400.
