'Movies and Musicals'

The Little Sea Musical Society in association with the KSM Concert Orchestra are presenting their 'Movies and Musicals' concerts, with performances also by the KSM Young Voices, at Camross Community Centre on Friday and Saturday, April 12, and 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online thelittleseamusicalsociety.com or call us at 089 9765414. Teach na nÓg

We are now taking bookings for September in both our play group and Montessori rooms. Booking form are available from the preschool. Feel free to contact us at 051 561773 for any enquirers regarding the ECCE eligibility.

Our AGM will also take place on Monday, April 29, at 8 p.m. in the preschool. We would be grateful if all parents would attend.

Bannow 1169 Norman Festival

On May 4/5 Bannow 1169 will commemorate the 850th anniversary of the first Norman landing in Ireland with a festival in Carrig-on-Bannow and a civic ceremony at Bannow Church. Battle reenactments, a living history tented village, historical lectures, a commemorative ceremony and concerts featuring local and Norman musicians will mark what is the most important and consequential event in Irish history.

The weekend will begin with the tented village being installed in a field in Carrig-on-Bannow where the battle reenactments will take place over two days. There will be 14 living history tents, 15 living history craft displays, a display of Norman cavalry warfare and fully trained warriors for the displays twice each day.

There will be warrior training for children each day after the battles plus free have a go at archery for the children along with free Norman replica coins.

A civic ceremony will take place at Bannow Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, to which leading dignitaries will be invited.

On both May 4 and five there will be historical lectures in the marquee in the village. On Saturday we have Turtle Bunbury and on Sunday Emmet Stafford will be the guest speaker.

On both Saturday and Sunday there will be concerts in the marquee at Colfer's pub. On Saturday the inaugural performance of a specially commissioned piece by Greg French will be performed by the Danescastle school senior band along with other local guests. Our friends from Normandy, Strand Hugg will complete the concert.

Sundays concert will again feature Strand Hugg along with the local band Green Road.

Social dancing

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday, April 11, our fifth Anniversary dance with music by.

Pat Daly, April 18 Mary Pendergast and April 25 Adrian Ryan. All welcome refreshments served.

GAA club notes

Lotto numbers were 3, 9, 20 and 28. We had two match-three winners well done to Fiona Wallace and Michelle Power. Next jackpot will be €11,900. Thank you for your continued support to our club.

Well done to all our students, who play with their School. In Ramsgrange for the Leinster Schools football Joel, Conor Lee and Òisin had a great match while over in Adamstown Eoin plays with the under-14 Hurling.

We had five young girls who were involved in the under-13 Development football squad blitz over the weekend. Well done to Kate and Aideen, Aoife, Rachel and Kayleigh. Keep up the good work.

Our under-17 men football had a great win over Kilmore. Meanie kindly took the photographs thanks Meanie.

A few of this week's fixtures under-13 boys' football v Sarsfield in Grantstown at 6.30 on Tuesday. Under-15 boys' football v Taghmon away at 6.30 on Thursday. Our Junior Hurling team play in thefirst round of the championship this Sunday down in St Anne's pitch Rathangan. Their opponents are St Martin's and throw in is at 2 p.m. More fixtures and results are on the Facebook page and Twitter account.

Camross Drama Group

Camross Drama Group will perform three one-act comedy plays in Carrig Community Centre on Friday, April 26, at 8 p.m. Why not come along for a night of fun and laughter.

This year is the 70th Anniversary of Macra Na Feirme in County Wexford. ARA Club news

Day Trip - On Tuesday, April 16, the group will take a trip on the Kilmeaden Steam Train in Waterford, followed by visit to the Japanese Gardens in Tramore and some free time in Tramore. Meal on way home in Horse and Hound Restaurant. Price including Coach €50 pp. minimum of 20 required for this trip.

21 people enjoyed a great day visiting Nicholas Mossed Pottery and Smithwicks Brewery in Kilkenny, followed by some 'retail therapy' in the Kilkenny shops. A lovely evening meal was enjoyed in Horse and Hound on way home. thank you to everyone who travelled with the group.

Tuesday, April 9, will be the big bingo with sit beside prizes - Raffle on the day (reminder bring your raffle prize please) usual times 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Club will be closed on April 16 due to Day Trip and closed for Easter on April 23. Weekly meetings will resume on Tuesday, April 30.

Aerobics with Pat Dobbs takes place in St Martin's cemtre every Monday night from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m., Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday mornings from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. Cost €7 pay-as-you-go - all levels of fitness welcome - just bring a mat and water.

Open Garden

Doyle's, Orchard Park are opening their garden to the public every Sunday. All are invited; proceeds will be divided between Tagoat Parish Church and Tagoat Day Care centre.

GAA lotto

The lotto was not won. The numbers were 1, 16, 23 and 28 on April 2. No winner. No match three. Lucky-dip winners were Stephen Whelan, Denis Cronin, Caroline Ellard, Kerry McCormick and Michelle Mearns.

Next draw is on April 9 in the clubhouse at 8 p.m. and is €4,300.

Easter camp

St Mary's GAA club are holding a two-day Easter camp on Thursday and Friday, April 18, and 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is for girls and boys aged five - 13.
