A meeting was held last Thursday night regarding Ballymurn Community Hall. The meeting was a great success and we plan to have another meeting on Tuesday, March 12, at 7.30 p.m. If you have any ideas regarding the renovations of the hall please come along to the next meeting, We want this to be a community project so everyone's opinion is important.

Scoil Mhuire NS Ballyhogue
The students and staff of Scoil Mhuire would like to thank everyone who attended our Open Night on Thursday, February 28.The night was a huge success and we received lots of positive feedback about our school. Also thank you to the Parents Association and Fresh Today who provided refreshments on the night. Congratulations to Lucy McVeigh who won the €50 One 4 All voucher.
The Enniscorthy group of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust are organising a clothing collection in Bree Community Centre from March 8 to March 10. Good quality clothes, bed linen, towels, paired shoes and handbags accepted. All money will go towards bringing children and young adults to Lourdes this Easter. Macra all-Ireland Final
Good luck to the Bree Macra debating team of Niall Doyle, Sinéad Doyle, Johanna Wickham and Áine Doyle, who have qualified for the national final of the FBD Sponsored Debating competition. They beat East Laois in the semi-final. The all-Ireland Final is on this Saturday in Mallow where they take on Donoughmore from Cork.
Community Games News
It is that time of year for Bree-Davidstown/Cloughbawn Community Games Activities to resume for the 2019 season. Closing date of March 16 is fast approaching for those interested in taking part in gymnastics, swimming, art, handwriting, talent and quiz. There will be local trials for art under-seven to under-16 and Handwriting under-nine to under-12 in Bree Hall on Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. and local trials for quiz under-14 in Bree Hall on March 16 at 8 p.m.
Some county final dates are as follows: gymnastics March 24; Quiz is April 10; swimming April 17; talent April 25. For info on all Community Games activities see the national Community Games website or contact area secretary Clare Doyle 087 4151350.
Thanks to all who attended a recent meeting in Bree Community Centre, with a view to setting up a playground committee.
This group will oversee the operation of the new Bree Community Playground. Cathriona Leacy was selected as chairperson and Eimear Ryan was selected as secretary. Phase two of the playground installation is due to begin shortly.
St Patrick's Weekend Run/Walk
Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 10k run and 5k walk on bank holiday Monday, March 18. The event will begin at 11 a.m., with registration taking place from 10 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for the 5k walk and €10 for the 10k run. Both events are open to all ages and abilities. The 10k race will be chip timed and there will be prizes for the first man and woman home. Refreshments will be served to all participants in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a great community event.
Ballyhogue GAA are holding a Club Registration night on Wednesday March6 in the Handball complex from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Rates are as follows: Family €100, Adult €100 or €80 Direct Debit,Adult Non Playing €30, 3rd Level Student €50, U18-U8 €30, walkway use (only) €10.

Sound of Music
Rehearsals are at an advanced stage for the upcoming musical 'The Sound of Music' which will be presented in Oylegate Community Centre on Wednesday the 27th, Thursday the 28th, Friday and Saturday, March 29, and 30, nightly at 8 p.m. This hugely popular musical is sure to be a hit with all ages and the cast are busy rehearsing and looking forward to being part of this wonderful entertaining show. Confirmation will take place for the fifth and sixth class pupils of Oylegate National School on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m.
GAA club news
Lotto syndicate draw winners for February are Tommy/Kathleen Thorpe and Eamonn/Clare Fogarty, lotto winnings were €169. The final draw for the first year of syndicate will be on March 27. We thank you most sincerely for your support and we hope you will continue with the draw for year two.Your collector will be in touch in the coming weeks and we will hold an information/rejoining evening in the community centre on Saturday, April 6, at 7.30 p.m. Developments at our grounds continue thanks to your generosity.

GAA Walking Track
The top track will be fully lit every Mon/Weds/Friday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to avail of the facility to get fit and healthy for 2019. Everybody welcome. Unfortunately for health and safety reasons guide dogs only are allowed.

Local Link Wexford
Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.
The Ballagh Litter Picking will commence on Saturday, March 9, with volunteers meeting at the Ballagh Community Centre at 10 a.m. Plastic Bags and Litter Pickers will be provided. People from all areas are needed and are asked to attend to clean up their own roads. There is no set time for the litter picking so the volunteers can do it at a time that suits themselves. The organisers are appealing for like-minded volunteers to help clean-up the roads in our local area. Many hands make light work.
The Green School Committee of Ballaghkeene NS have entered the SEAI 'One Good Idea' competition. Their idea is to reduce the use of disposable plastic and paper cups and begin using re-usable cups in an effort to save our environment. The members of the 'Cup Crew' in Ballaghkeene National School are trying to raise awareness around the parish through posters, newsletters, videos/photos online.
Their motto is 'Chuck the Cup'. They have successfully made it through to Round Two (one of only 40 schools) and are hoping to go all the way and win the competition. So - Please pay heed to their campaign and Chuck the Cup.
Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team will play the semi-final of the Leinster League, Cross County Competition, on Sunday, March 10, in Oulart at midday. Ballyboden St Enda's will provide the opposition. Players and management would appreciate lots of support.
Family Fun table quiz
Oulart Scout Group will hold a Family Fun table quiz in Oulart Hill Bar from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. There will be great prizes on offer. A Table of Four will cost only €20.
The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis. Anyone interested in joining the group is asked to contact Vickie (087 7780749) or Ger (086 1578484).
Community Text Alert
The AGM of Oulart Text Alert will take place on Wednesday, March 13, in the Legion of Mary Hall (situated just below and on the same side as St Patrick's Church), in Oulart Village. A vacancy exists for chairperson of the group.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend the AGM and to play a part in securing the safety and security of the residents of the area and their property. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated.
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Mayoral Campaign fundraising efforts have come to a close, with the winner to be announced on March 16 in Oulart Community Centre, beginning at 9 p.m. Admission is free, finger-food will be available along with Bar facilities and music will be provided by Country Outlaws.
Congratulations to the candidates, Phil Redmond and Martin 'Sponger' Fortune and their teams who did trojan work throughout the campaign and raised vital funds towards the development and improvement of facilities which will be of lasting benefit to the local community, particularly our youth. The GAA club is very appreciative of the generous response of the people of the parish as well as marvellous support from people and businesses from outside the parish.
The second and final registration night for underage and Adult GAA and camogie will be held in Oulart Community Centre on Wednesday, March 6, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All players must be registered for training and playing matches and there is a deadline to enter competitions and to register teams.
