All Blacks AFC

Well done Tara, Meave and Ashling from our under-14s all-Ireland Runner's up today after two wins and one defeat to the Champions by a single goal in a 1: 0 defeat. Well done girls were very proud in All Blacks. The most recent winner of the split-the-pot draw of €240 is Peter Kehoe. Well done Peter and the club appreciates your support. Next draw will take place in the Merry Elf on December 9. Remember if you're not in-you can't win.

Mixed results for the Men's teams. The A team went down 3-1 at home to Wexford Bohs but the B team secured another three points with an away 3-1 win against Tombrack. Fielding possibly the oldest back five in league history (Gringo, Dara, Mark, Bubbles and Willie) two goals from John Codd and a Damien Corish header (on his debut) gave the lads the deserved win. Well done men and roll on the next game.

The under-14 premier team welcomed Curracloe to big barn, unfortunately the visitors took all three points winning 2-1... with blacks goal coming from Tara Cullen.

Our second under-14 team travelled to Ferns and came away with a point after a 2-2 draw with blacks goals coming from Ava Newport and Jessica Cloney... unlucky not to come away with a win, the girls went down to 10 after Kayleigh went of injured and only conceded equaliser very late on in the game great battling by all.

The women welcomed Ajax to big barn and with only 10 women available (three under the wether also) this morning due to hols, sickness etc. Katelyn Boggan slotted into midfield from our under-16 team to make up the 11 and didn't look out of place at all. The women took all three points with a 7-0 victory over the away team with goals from Melissa Crowley (3), Natasha Martin (2), and one each for Aoife and Niamh Rees, brilliant battling from the ladies this morning and well done to all 11 this morning great to see the happy faces after a great win.

St Fintan's AGM

The St Fintan's GAA Club held its AGM during the past week in the fabulous meeting room of its state-of-the-art clubhouse.

Club chairman Robert O'Callaghan opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanked them for their attendance. In his address Robert spoke highly of the 'on field' activities with great credit going to Shane Sinnott, Conor Berry and Dave Kelleher for the efforts of the football teams that were beaten by the narrowest of margins at quarter final stage but the team did secure intermediate status for the coming season.

He thanked Richard Kavanagh, Keith Rooney and Brain Lacey for their commitment to the junior hurling team which also lost out by the narrowest of margins at the quarter final stage of the championship.

Robert was particularly pleased with the underage section in its association with Our Lady's Island and at under-17 level the amalgamation with Crossabeg-Ballymurn and thanked David Day, David Rice, Linda Dignam and Coiste secretary Suzanne Ellard for their commitment and smooth running of this section.

We also had favourable mention for the nursery programme for four- to six-year-olds and thanked those catering for this section with a special mention to parents for their backing and support of the initiave.

Robert congratulated the ladies' club on yet another successful year and thanked them for their help and support.

On fundraising for the year he had a special mention for Nicky Newport for his dealings with the club lotto and all those that supported and helped at the other fundraisers. He thanked Trever Rankin for pitch maintenance and providing us with a playing surface on a par with any in the country.

Before seeking the reports of his two fellow officers he thanked them most sincerely for their hard work in what was an extremely busy year both on and off the playing field.

Club secretary Sharon Pettit gave a very detailed report on all activities and club affairs leaving no one in any doubt as to what happened both on and off the pitch. Liz Crowley then produced a very detailed treasurers report dealing with the assets, liabilities and expenditure for the year and once again it was easy reading explaining how a small club like St Fintan's handled a sizeable sum of money.

The election of officers followed some lively debates and after what was a year so well catered for at this level who would want a change and so this group remained. Chair. ;Robert O'Callaghan, Sec; Sharon Pettit, Treas; Liz Crowley, Pres;Nicky Newport, PRO; Paddy McGuire. Robert closed the meeting wishing everyone a happy Christmas and a Happy New Year in sport. Cake sale.

Heartfelt thanks to each and everyone that supported our annual cake sale and raffle in aid of the day to day running of our parish both at Saturday evening Mass in Mayglass and Sunday morning Mass in Ballymore.
