Adamstown: Development Meeting. Cllr Pat Barden is hosting a meeting in Adamstown Community Centre on Thursday, September 5, at 9 p.m. with a view to establishing a Development Committee for the Adamstown Community.

The village has recently benefited with positive projects completed by various clubs and committees. It is imperative for Adamstown to establish a Development Committee in order to capitalize on funding available with the overall aim of enhancing and developing amenities within our village. All individuals, Clubs, Businesses and Organisations are invited to attend this important meeting.

GAA Club receives grant

Thank you to New Ross Credit Union for awarding a grant to St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club from their local community grant scheme. The cheque was presented to two club members at a very enjoyable function in the New Credit Union Building recently. On the night funds were donated to third world charities and to nine local groups. New Ross Credit Union also paid tribute to the late Fr Jackie Power, who was instrumental in setting up the Credit Union.


The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, September 6, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, September 6, will be Mary Delaney, Sheelagh Delaney, Catherine O'Rourke and Elizabeth Greene. Catering on Friday, September 13, will be: Catherine Walsh, Eileen N Walsh and Eileen J Walsh. Catering on Friday, September 20, will be Callie Doyle, Angela Furlong and Louise Furlong. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Adamstown lotto

The next draw in the Adamstown lotto take place this Friday, September 6, in the community centre for a jackpot of €6,800. Keep on buying the tickets and in doing so help support your local GAA, Soccer Clubs and parish.

Extension to health centre

Wexford Health Services Executive have applied to Wexford County Council for planning permission for a single-storey portacabin extension to side of existing single-storey health centre and all associated site works at Adamstown Health Centre. Hopefully this will be approved to alleviate the severe lack of space in our Health Centre.

Parish Pilgrimage

Several parishioners from Adamstown travelled to Our Lady's Island on Monday night last to take part in our annual pilgrimage. We joined with the Lourdes Pilgrimage Supporters Group praying the Rosary around the Island followed by Mass in at 8 p.m. in Our Lady's Island Church. It was a lovely peaceful evening there to just switch off from the everyday hustle and bustle of life.

Rowing gold for Riáin

Congratulations to Riáin O'Shea, Glenour, Adamstown as part of the under-12 boys' team representing Killurin Rowing Club, who won gold in recent Ferrycarrig annual Regatta. Well done, Riáin.


Youth Club

Ballymurn Youth Club will hold a registration night in Ballymurn Hall on Wednesday, September 4, at 8.30 p.m. It will also be the AGM the registration is for existing and new members who attended Ballymurn NS or live in Ballymurn. This is for parents/guardians only.

5k Fun run/walk

Dynamic Kickboxing Academy are organising a 5k fun run/walk in Ballymurn on October 29. more details to follow. This fundraiser is to help fund five of their teenagers to represent Ireland in the world kickboxing championships in New York in November.

GAA Notes

Fixtures for the week: Tomorrow night (Wednesday) under-20 premier hurling Quarter Final v Oylegate-Glenbrien at 6.30 at home. Saturday at 4.30 p.m. final round of the intermediate Hurling Championship v Shamrocks in Monamolin.

The minor hurlers defeated St James in the quarter finals of the championship 3-18 to 3-08. They now play Mougeen Gaels in the semi-finals.

The under-20 hurlers made history by defeating Bunclody-Davidstown in the premier hurling championship prelims stage. It's our first time ever playing at this grade since its inception (formerly under-21). They won 1-16 to 0-14 with Josh Culleton with the goal.


Bree Youth Club

Registration for the new club year will take place in Bree Community Centre on Friday, September 6, from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Club will resume as normal on Friday, September 13.

Bree Active Retirement

The September meeting of Bree ARA takes place on Wednesday, September 18, in Bree Community Centre. A trip has been arranged for the Arboretum and Rathwood at a date to be confirmed. Names and deposits will be taken at this meeting. A committee meeting will be held at 1.30 p.m. before the social. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes will take place in Bree Community Centre with Grace Reddington on Monday nights from 8.15 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. and on Wednesday mornings from 10.15 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. Sessions will begin on Monday, September 16, and continue for six weeks. Please bring your own mat. Cost is €60 for the six weeks or €12 drop in session.

Fashion Show

Bree Community Development Group is hosting a Fashion Show in the Riverside Hotel on Wednesday, October 16, in aid of Bree Community Playground. Enniscorthy based shops 'Glamour' and 'Ottiva' are supplying the fashion and Liam Sharky is MC for the night. Tickets at €10 will be on sale shortly in Garry Byrnes, Riverside Hotel and from any Committee Member.

Clonard Family Liturgy Group: Practice for Clonard Family Liturgy Group will recommence on Friday, September 6, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Family Mass will recommence on Sunday, September 15, at 10 a.m. All children who have completed senior infants are welcome to join. The Children's Family Liturgy Group will celebrate their 20th Anniversary this year on Sunday, October 6, at 10 a.m. Mass. We will pay tribute to all past and present members of the group. Certificate In Pastoral Theology Spirituality and Practice: For the coming academic year, in union with the Carlow Institute of Technology, Wexford Campus, a course is being offered to those who would like to explore their faith better and take a more active role in parish leadership. The course will run from September 24., till April of next year. There is no requirement for previous study and the course is open to all. There are no exams and work will be graded by continuous assessment. Subjects covered by the course include Scripture, liturgy and sacraments, theology of God, theology of church, spirituality, pastoral theology and moral theology. The Ballagh

Boxing Club

The Boxing season re-commences on Monday, September 2. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the training days; 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for underage and beginners, 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for everyone else. The training will be in the Ballagh Community Centre till the clubhouse is completed in approximately two months. All are welcome to join this most successful boxing club that can boast of many all-Ireland winners in the past.

CFR Training
