Athletic Club news

People travelled from all over Leinster to the Uneven Ages Leinster Cross Country Championships which was held in Adamstown last weekend. Some old hands were saying it was the biggest crowd they have seen at a Leinster Cross Country in years.

Our athletes really enjoyed the occasion on home soil. Our first athlete to run Áine Crean had a great run finishing 10th in the under-nine girls race. Next up was our boys under-11 team of Ross English, Jack O'Shea, Watt Crean and Bobby Mcdonald. They had a great performance with Ross finishing best of the team in 19th place. Well done to our under-13 girls' team of Niamh English, Grainne English, Sadbh Crean and Isobel English, the girls all put in a fine performance on home soil.

Well done to Donny Mcdonald, who competed in the under-13 boys race and Katie English and Aoibhinn Crean competing in the under-15 girls race, they all ran great races in tough and competitive fields. Ben Wall was the fourth Wexford athlete home in the under-15 boys race with his brother Robert also running in this race, both athletes putting in a great performance out of their age category. Mairead Crean ran a great race to finish just outside the top 12 medal positions in 13th place in the under-17 girls race. Well done to all our athletes on fantastic performances in such large and competitive races.

A huge thank you to all our helpers on the day, to everyone that gave up their time to help run this very successful event. Thanks to all that contributed by sponsorship or donations to our onsite shop. Thanks to all those that helped to get the course ready and for the clean-up afterwards. A special thanks to the owners of the field where we got to host this event and to all the local community for their help and support.

Thanks to county and Leinster stewards who helped Adamstown A. C. make this event a well-run and successful event. A final word of thanks to all the athletes who came from near and far and to all the Adamstown A. C. committee members for hosting this event.
