The Wexford Community Games Athletics Finals took place in Bree on Saturday 13th June. The Adamstown area was represented by 30 athletes on the day.
Results from the day were: Luke Byrne 1st in the U14 Boys 800m, Cormac Byrne 1st in the U12 Boys Ball Throw, Ryan Carthy Walsh 1st in the U16 Boys High Jump, Ciara Mooney 3rd in the U12 Girls Ball Throw, Rachel Power 1st in the U14 Girls Shot Putt, Marguerite Furlong 1st in the U16 Girls Discus, Zara Power 3rd in the U16 Girls Discus and Kate Jackman 1st in the U14 Girls Javelin.
The U13 Mixed Relay team took home silver medals, the team was-Ella English, Tadhg McDonald, Cormac Byrne and Rachel Power. The U15 Mixed Relay team also took home silver medals and their team was-Luke Byrne, Zara Power, Kate Jackman and Oisin MacGabhann.
The other athletes who represented Adamstown on the day were James Furlong, Bobby McDonald, Jack O'Shea, Donny McDonald, Stephen Power, Tadhg McDonald, Dara Furlong, Oscar MacGabhann, Laurence Power, Caragh McDonald, Roisin NicGabhainn, Maeve O'Neill, Grainne English, Niamh English, Isobel English, Katie English, Sonia Mooney and Triona Mooney. Well done to all the athletes who were representing Adamstown and best wishes to the athletes who will go on to represent Wexford at the Community Games Finals.

The County Throws Championships took place at DMP Athletic Club, Drinagh on Sunday 14th June. The club was well represented on the day and took home many medals from the event. On Tuesday last in beautiful sunshine, Adamstown National School had their second Green Flag Ceremony. This flag for energy conservation was the culmination of months of dedicated work by the green Flag Committee and school staff. The flag was raised by Wexford star and former pupil of the school, Shane O'Gorman. The children entertained the many parents who were present to some lovely traditional singing, led by Aileen Lambert, (Heritage in Schools Traditional Song Teacher) who has just finished a workshop in the school. The school band also played music for the gathering. We thank Ms. Delaney and Ms Crean who supervised the Green Flag students in the school. Well done everyone.
The annual ICA outing for 2015 will take place on Wednesday 29th July 2015. This is a day trip to Kilkenny City via Woodstock gardens, Nicholas Moss pottery, Kilkenny Castle and ending the day with an evening meal in Langtons. On Wednesday evening 10th June, Adamstown village was buzzing with excitement. Adamstown ICA guild hosted the special occasion's competition in Adamstown hall and Colaiste Abbain. A large contingent of ladies from all over Wexford descended on the village bringing their entries for this heavily contested competition.
The overall winners on the night are Oylgate ICA, joint second were Camross ICA and the Maudlins ICA. Congratulations to Mary J. Furlong for coming first with her floral arrangement. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to everyone who took part.
A special word of thanks to all who provided the entertainment which was very much enjoyed by one and all. Many thanks to all our own members who worked very hard to make this night a success and to the Fas workers who helped with preparing the hall.

Brid Byrne was in goal on the Wexford Ladies Football team which beat London in the Leinster Quarter Final last Sunday in London. The next Lotto draw takes place on June 24th in Ryan's of Galbally.
Adoration of the Eucharist will commence in Bree Church this Wednesday June 24th, immediately after the School Mass.
Gerard and Cathy Dunne, Merton, Bree will host an Open Garden on Sunday July 5th from 2-5.30pm in aid of Clonmore Church. There will be a Cake Stall, Plant and Produce Stall, Nutritious Drinks and Smoothies, Crazy Golf, Teas and Coffees and a Raffle. All support appreciated.

Sophie McCabe had a wonderful few days of athletics last weekend. On Friday she won the Triple Jump in the Tailteann Games which is the Irish Schools Interprovincial Championships. On Saturday and Sunday she competed in the U18 Leinster Championships in Tullamore and medaled in four events with gold in the Triple Jump, 200m and 400m and silver in the Long Jump. Her performance in the 400m was a Leinster record.
Bree AC's other medal winner was Brandon Sinnott who won a bronze medal in the 250m Hurdles. On Saturday next the U9-11 Leinster qualifiers will be in action in the National Finals. Best of luck to all involved.
Bree CEP Visitation
Visitation of the Elderly in the Community has recommenced in recent weeks with two participants from Bree CEP, Sue and Annabel, calling on some of the elderly in the Community. This is a service organised in conjunction with the Active Retirement Group. If there is anyone who would like to be visited or perhaps you have a family member who would like to avail of this service please let the CEP Office know at 053 9247613.
Sue and Annabel have also compiled and published a Newsletter with information and articles which may be of interest to the elderly in the community. The aim is to produce the Newsletter on a monthly basis. We are also looking for ideas and suggestions for other activities which we could offer for the group.

Holy Family Playschool
The playschool is taking bookings for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years to attend this playschool for the coming year. Trocaire: Many thanks from Trocaire and the Priests of the Parish and to everyone who supported the Trocaire Lenten campaign. The final amount raised in Clonard Parish amounted to €4,303.
Saturday Evening Vigil Mass: Time change on Saturday 27th June, mass will be celebrated at 5pm due to the Wexford vs Down game in Wexford Park.
Celebration: There will be a celebration for the anniversary of Medjugorje on Thursday, June 25th in Clonard Church beginning with Rosaries and confession at 5pm, followed by Holy Mass and healing prayer.

The A.A. group in Glenbrien will hold an open public meeting in the Holy Family School in Glenbrien with Alan on paticipation on Saturday 4th July at 8.30. Everyone is welcome to come along to the meeting Tea and Coffee will be served after.
Tea and coffee and a cake sale will take place in the Old School Centre on Patron Sunday and all the proceeds raised will go towards the Old School Centre and the Village Renewal Group. We would appreciate any confectionery you might like to donate for the sale on the day and the centre will be open after the prayers for tea and a chat, more information next week. Please leave any cakes and confectioary into the centre on Saturday night after Mass and again on Sunday morning after Mass.
Glenbrien Parents Association A big thank you to Tony and the Staff for providing the hot food for the children on Wednesday last after the Sports day. It was a huge hit with both the children and the the Parents. The Presentation to Mrs MacLoughlan the Vice Principal who is retiring will take place on Wednesday next in the school after the Mass and Graduation of the Sixth Class from 12.30. Everyone is welcome to come along to the event. If you would like to contribute any buns cakes and confectionery to the event please leave them into the school on Wednesday 24th June.
social get together
There will be a social get together on Friday next 26th June in the Big Tree Lounge to celebrate the Summer Holidays , all parents are welcome to come along, there will be music on the night and if the night is as good as the last one a great night is guaranteed.
Well done to all the children from the local Community Games who competed so well at the county athletic finals in Bree on Saturday last. There was a good attendance of competitors who featured in so many of the finals during the day. Many of the children were competing for the first time and we hope they will continue to enjoy the sport.
A gold medal was won by Darragh Casey in the hurdles under 14 final, with Amy Forde taking the silver medal in the Discus under 16 event. Silver also for Sonia Millbourne in the hurdles under 14 final and Sean Rowley in the 100M under 12 final.
Bronze medals were won by brothers William and Adam Murphy. William won his medal in the Hurdles under 10 final and Adam won his medal in the 60M under 8 final and a bronze medal was also won by Andrew Fitzhenry in the hurdles under 14 final.
The under 13 mixed Relay team of Sonia Milbourne, Andrew Fitzhenry, Blathnaid Sinnott and Darragh Casey came ever so close to taking the gold medals but had to settle for the silver instead. Subs here were Conall Byrne, Kate Freeman and Aoife Murphy.
The under 12 boys Relay team of Sean Milbourne, Shane Doran, Jack Hennessy and Sean Rowley also came very close to taking gold and settled for the silver medals. Their subs were Eamonn Moran and Padraig O`Carroll.
Others who featured in the finals of their respective races were Scott O`Reilly (80M U8) James Cloney (200M U10) Graham Curran (4th Hurdles U14) Kate Freeman (Ball Throw U12) Catherine Murphy and Saoirse McCormack (Shot Putt U14).
The Under 12 girls Relay team of Rebecca Fanning, Blathnaid O`Leary, Aisling Murphy, Anna Finan and Grace O`Connor just missed out on a bronze medal and finished in fourth place in the final while the under 10 Mixed Relay team of Aoife Fitzhenry, William Murphy, Maria Coone, Harry Sherlock and subs Alex Garry and Eibhlin Moran also finished in fourth place in their final.
Grateful thanks to all who turned up to help out on the day and also to the parents who had the children there on time for the parade. It was great to see the children marching behind their local banner.

GAA club news
Oylegate/Glenbrien are hosting Tourlestrane of County Sligo for the féile. The club will play two games on Friday June 26th at 5.00pm and 6.00pm against Oulart the Ballagh and Ballinamore Sean Heslins of County Leitrim.
On Saturday June 27th the club will play Tourlestrane. We wish them the very best in all of their games. We hope Tourlestrane will have a very enjoyable stay in the area.
Lotto: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in The Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday June 10th. The next draw will be held in Mernaghs Lounge, Oylegate on Wednesday June 24th. Tickets cost just €2 each available from club members.
Dates for Your Diary: Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club will hold their annual golf classic on Friday August 28th in Wexford Golf Club. On Sunday August 30th the club will hold its annual half marathon.
U-8 and U-10 football training continues next Wednesday at 6-30pm in the Crossabeg community pitches. U-16's on Wednesday's from 7.30 to 8.30 in Ballymurn; Adults on Wednesday's from 7.30 to 8.30 and Saturday's 6.30 to 7.30 in Ballymurn.These are the times generally but sometimes they will change and managers will inform their teams if this arises!
