A local home care company has raised €1,715 for Wexford's Alzheimer Society to help it provide support to the growing numbers of families who need its services.
Home Instead Senior Care Wexford teamed up with the Wexford Bridge Centre and a number of local businesses to host the event on September 22.
'The money raised is desperately needed. It enables the Alzheimer Society to support and assist people with dementia to stay in their homes throughout County Wexford,' said Saoirse Kelly, Alzheimer Society Wexford's home care coordinator. 'Sincere thanks and gratitude to all who contributed to the Home Instead Senior Care Wexford and Wexford Bridge Club fundraiser.'
Stephen Conway, managing director of Home Instead Wexford, added, 'Each year we try to help local families who are caring for loved ones living with dementia by putting on free public education events, and we organise fundraising events to help the Alzheimer Society. This year we worked with the Wexford Bridge Centre - and we were delighted to see so many people turn out, making generous donations to the society. We're grateful to Michael Coffey and Maurice Brosnan and all the local businesses, individuals and bridge clubs who donated prizes for the event.'
