This year's Wexford People Buy and Win campaign came to an end on Tuesday last as five final readers found themselves in the right place at the right time to receive €20.
As locals braced themselves for the 'Beast from the East' snowstorm, due to hit in subsequent days, the Wexford People was out and about, rewarding readers who bought last week's edition.
In Boggan's on Newtown Road, Tom Dempsey from Barntown was delighted to receive €20 for buying the paper, and did not let his title as 'Mayor of Barntown' dissuade him from accepting the prize! Tom is a weekly reader, saying that he enjoys reading the sport while his wife Mary reads the news. Like many others on Tuesday morning, Tom was also stocking up on bread and milk but he said that this was not a reaction to the inclement weather - he needed them anyway!
Over in New Line Costcutters, Jean Cloney from Crossabeg was the lucky winner of €20 after she picked up her weekly copy of The People.
She said: 'I get the paper every week, I can't do without it. I read it back to front, sports and all. I even read the notes in other districts!'
In Conway's Spar in Taghmon, Sean Roche and his son Jackson were in the right place at the right time, picking up a paper from Jackson's mother Kitty Banville's place of work! Sean said that they bought the paper every week and joked that while he picked up the paper, it was likely that Kitty would pick up the €20! He added that he enjoyed reading the news and sport every week.
Over at O'Brien's Londis in Larkin's Cross, Tommy Brady from Killinick picked up his weekly copy of the paper and happily accepted the €20 reward. A regular reader, he said he read the paper from start to finish every week.
Finally, the last €20 to be gifted to readers for this year went to Martina Stanners from Murrintown, who bought her copy of the paper in Flanagan's Centra in Castlebridge. She said she always bought the paper as it helped her keep up to date on the happenings in the local area.
