Some concerns were expressed at last week's meeting of Wexford County Council over the disposal of council property on the junction of Spawell Road and 1798 Street.
At a previous Wexford Borough District meeting, Cllr Leonard Kelly objected to the sale of the disused shed measuring 53.6 square metres for the sum of €20,000 to Ms Martina Walshe, C/O Martin and Anne Walshe.
At the time, Cllr Kelly said that he couldn't in good conscience vote in favour of the disposal of the land in such a manner and he felt it should be sold on the open market.
On this occasion, it became clear that the intention was for the purchasers to join the property with the house next door which, according to council officials, is understood to be at 'sale agreed' stage.
Cllr Kelly again queried the matter and Cllr John Hegarty stated that it was his belief that the sale of the adjoining house was 'far from complete' and negotiations were ongoing.
Director of Services Tony Larkin stated that if the sale of the adjoining house doesn't go ahead, then the sale of the shed will not go ahead either and it will come back before the members.
Having heard this, the members unanimously voted in favour of it's disposal.
