Susan Murphy received an unexpected business boost recently when she was announced as the winner of a €7500 business ad campaign with Today FM.
On a live broadcast of the Sunday Business Show, the Wexford resident was chosen from three finalists for her business Makemywill.ie. Susan was in shock when she was given word of her win in the contest, which received entrants from hundreds of other business owners.
'I'm not quite sure what to say. This is a huge opportunity for me,' said Susan when she received the on-air call. 'I am absolutely thrilled.'
Susan got word of the competition at a Today FM business event in Dublin, which she was invited to by friend Samantha Kelly, aka the Tweeting Goddess. She sent in an email entry for the prize but as she didn't hear anything for a number of weeks, she didn't expect to win anything.
'It was fantastic. Something like this is massive for me,' she said.
The ad campaign is set to be broadcast on Today FM in the new year.
Susan, who has only been trading since January, said that the year has been 'hectic' so far. Her businesses, Makemywill.ie, is an online will-making practice based in Clonard Village. As a qualified solicitor, Susan wanted to take the hassle out of making a will. She takes instructions from clients by phone or email and arranges appointment times to suit them. The daughter of former Coroner Jimmy Murphy, Susan worked in her father's practice Huggard, Brennan and Murphy in Wexford town before deciding to branch out on her own last December.
