The Amber Springs' Cocoon Spa and the Skin Gym Salon in the Ashdown Park Hotel have both reopened their doors with new health and safety measures in place.

Until now, group manager Orla Kenny and her team continued to work from home with clients, offering virtual skin consultations, and this led to setting up an online shop.

'There have been many changes and our therapists and clients are wearing masks. There is now a hand-washing ritual at the start of all treatments and instead of a handshake, we put our hand on our heart to greet our clients.

'We ask our clients to cancel if they are feeling unwell, with no cancellation fee, and our clients must come to their appointment alone.

Treatment rooms are sanitised fully between use.

'We introduced a no skin-on-skin contact massage for anyone who is nervous of touch and clients can experience a full body massage while being cocooned in a warm sheet. It incorporates hot stones and is inspired by Royal Thai massage.'

The team had time to re-evaluate during location and have now started on green initiatives. With the introduction of one brand, Voya, the team felt it held the same values, being luxury and organic.

'It was important to us to select a skincare brand that was not only true to Ireland, but one which delivers unparalleled skincare results. Voya is an Irish brand that is built around seaweed, which naturally absorbs its nourishment from the sea. As a result, it contains countless minerals, vitamins, and beneficial ingredients in high concentrations. People on the West Coast of Ireland have enjoyed seaweed bathing for centuries as it was widely considered to have beneficial effects,' Ms Kenny said.

'Seaweed naturally cleanses and purifies the skin, helping to improve its suppleness and elasticity, thus improving the signs of ageing by toning, smoothing, moisturising, and stimulating skin cells. All Voya products contain extracts of wild seaweed which is sustainably hand-harvested from the cleanest waters off the West Coast of Ireland and are formulated to deeply nourish your skin and aid its natural ability to heal and repair,' said Orla.

The team are now offering a Voya bespoke experience, which includes a radiance facial, scalp massage and herbal tea, priced at €75.
