Simply Birth and Beyond were delighted to launch their new Lucina Studio in the Folly in Wexford town with the assistance of Mayor George Lawlor.
Formerly known as Hypnobirthing Leinster, Simply Birth and Beyond was originally set up to deliver more modern, accessible and research-based birth preparation classes in Wexford. Founder Brenda Harkin, a midwife of almost 30 years, a hypnotherapist and early adopter of Hypnobirthing, identified a need to offer mothers more choice, information, support and continuity of services.
In 2018 Brenda left her employment with the HSE in order to focus on this goal. She has developed a Mum and Baby Hub which offers a comprehensive range of pre and post-natal classes including prenatal yoga, hypnobirthing, baby massage and mum and baby yoga at the Lucina Studio. She is also a recent member of Private Midwives Ireland-a team of midwives who offer pre and post-natal services including both hospital and home-births
The Lucina Studio is a collaborative space with other teachers and therapists offering something for all ages and all family members. Already they have welcomed Anne Marie Ferris of The Ferriswheel Programme which assists children and adults with various techniques to deal with stress, anxiety and learning difficulties.
Sue Honan specialises in holistic and sports therapies, as well as reflexology with a focus on Fertility and birth, and Gemma Ferris who will host Kids and Teen Yoga have also joined this collaboration. Lucina will also soon be offering Steiner based toddler groups and Energy Healing based workshops for kids and parents.
'We used to call these alternative therapies, but they are now mainstream and much needed, and I'm honoured to have been invited to open the Studio in the heart of Wexford,' said Cllr Lawlor, performing the opening.
