A farming couple from Enniscorthy have taken home two top prizes from this year's Diageo Bailey's Champion Cow competition for their cow, Ballyboy Sid Carmen 2019.
Jim and Una Sinnott, won and honourable mention and the 'best junior cow' award at the prestigious competition held in Co Cavan.
The event takes place every year at the Virginia Show and it rewards strength and form in body conformation as well as proven excellence in quality milk production.
Widely acknowledged as Ireland's top dairy livestock event it attracted the super-elite of the Holstein Friesian breed.
The top awards were presented by Enterprise Minister, Heather Humphreys TD., Robert Murphy, Head of Baileys Operations, Diageo Baileys Global Supply, and Martin Keane Chairman of Glanbia Ireland.
Mr Murphy said the competition 'helps shine a spotlight on the quality of our indigenous cream supply chain'.
The Glanbia Group chairperson, Martin Keane, said the competition 'attracts elite pedigree cows from throughout the country'.
'Breeding the champion dairy cow is a dream for every top-class Holstein Friesian breeder,' he said.
