Following the first YesChef Irish Takeaway Awards, Wexford can now officially boast the best takeaway in Ireland! The Little Saltee Chipper in Kilmore Quay battered the competition to scoop the top prize at the lavish ceremony in Athlone.
As well as scooping the top prize, The Little Saltee Chipper also took home Best Fish & Chips in Leinster and Best Fish & Chips in Ireland.
The Little Saltee Chipper wasn't the only one celebrating following the awards either. Mangan's Traditional Fish & Chips in The Faythe in Wexford town also scooped a trio of awards. Staff members were delighted to walk away with the Champion Chips Award for both Leinster and Ireland and the award for Best Burger in Leinster. They were also over the moon with the win and took the opportunity to thank hard working staff and loyal customers for their ongoing support.
Since its establishment in 2007 by owners Mick O'Leary and Michelle Cullen, The Little Saltee Chipper has become a real favourite for Wexford people, stopping off in the beautiful fishing village for delicious fresh fish and chips. As well as this, the staff regularly welcome visitors from all over the country and even the world and it has also recently been coined as a place in Ireland you need to eat before you die.
Queues outside the chipper in the sunshine are a familiar sight and the little chipper has featured in countless takeaway and seaside articles in recent years.
Owners Mick and Michelle were keen to thank their dedicated team for all their hard work over the years stating that 'their long summer days and winter nights do not go unnoticed. All of these awards are a testament to their time and effort.' They also expressed their gratitude to their loyal customers for all their support.
