Bridgetown Information and IT Centre

The office in the AOH Hall is open Monday to Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Library and IT room are also available during these hours.

All office services are available. All Social Welfare forms are available. The hall is available for hire for private functions and events. Please call in and see the facilities and services which are available for the general community.

Ballycogley Players

Director Ellen Cloney has announced her cast for the groups 2023 Full Length Circuit Play ‘The Red Iron’ by Jim Nolan. Ellen has been involved in the group for many years and takes over from our long-standing full length director Breda Hayes, many thanks to Breda for all her hard work over the years.

The cast for Red Iron is as follows: Dog – Seán Carthy; Scabs – Diarmuid Buttimer; Zorro – Pat Sinnott; Kel – Colm Doyle; Dettsie – Trish Boyce; Charley – Catherine Murphy.

We wish Ellen and the cast the best of look as they begin their preparations for the 2023 festival circuit. We recently had the pleasure of once again preforming our sketches at the annual Leo Carthy Weekend in Our Lady’s Island. Thanks to the committee for having us and to the wonderful audience for attending.

Memorial Garden

The annual Memorial Garden commemoration will be held at the Memorial Garden in Kilmore Quay on Sunday, August 28, at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Write By the Sea

The annual Write By the Sea literary festival will be held in the Stella Maris centre from September 23 to September 25. See the Write By the Sea website for all guests and other details.

Remembrance Mass

Mass will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Kilmore, on Friday evening 19th at 7.30 p.m., to remember Paul Younger (formerly Bastardstown}, who passed away last year in Gloucestershire, UK.

Autumn Dip

The autumn Dip Fundraiser in memory of Paul takes place at 4 p.m. on Saturday evening 20th on Ballyhealy Beach. Your support for the chosen charities, Kilmore Quay Lifeboat, Kilmore Community First Responders, Wexford Alzheimer’s Association would be much appreciated.

Charity Cabaret

There will be a Cabaret in aid of the cycle run from Lourdes to Enniscorthy, to raise funds for Hope Cancer Support Centre and Wexford Hospice, on Friday, August 19, at 9 p.m. in Greenacres Pub, Tenacre. Music will be provided by Mick Troy, Tony Who, The Reville family, plus other guests. Tickets are just €5. Raffle prizes and door prizes. Come along for a great night.

Lifeboat Station 175 years

An exhibition marking 175 years of lifeboat service in Kilmore Quay curated by author and historian John Power will be held at the Stella Maris Centre from August 26 to August 28. The exhibition will take you from the foundation of the station in 1847 to the present day service. Open Friday at 6 p.m., official launch 7 p.m. Saturday 11 a.m. 5.30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Community lotto

Winning numbers for August 9 were 1, 3, 22 and 28. There were three match-three winners. Jackpot stands at €4,600.

WB Yeats in Story & Song

Join us for an evening of story and song inspired by William Butler Yeats–venue Sigginstown Castle

Anna Skrine of Butlerstown Castle has composed music to WB Yeats poems, and Denise Leahy will narrate his story in the person of Maud Gonne, a long-time friend and love-interest of Yeats. Liz and Gordon Jones from Sigginstown Castle will accompany on voice and instrumental

Event is free with donations encouraged to benefit Tacumshane Old School building renovation. The program is about an hour in total. Commencing at 8 pm on Saturday, August 20 at Sigginstown Castle, Tacumshane

Adult football championship:Our footballers open their championship campaign away to Blackwater on Friday, 26th August at 7pm. The following week they are at home to Monageer at 6pm. Best of luck to the team and mentors.
