Noreen was the beloved partner of Richard Devereux and loving sister of Breda, Christena, Michael and Eamonn to whom heartfelt sympathy is extended. She was predeceased by her parents James and Margaret and brother Séamus.
Following her funeral Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Oulart on Wednesday the 25th Noreen was laid to rest in the local cemetery. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá hanam.
Coffee morning/Cake Sale
Oulart Community Centre committee is appealing to local people to help in their efforts to raise vital funds. During the last two years, on account of Covid lock-down, the community centre has been unable to generate any funds while at the same time, the expenses such as insurance, maintenance etc have still to be met.
Committee members have organised a cake sale/Coffee Morning for Sunday, June 5, while, on the same day, a raffle will also take place, with tickets on sale in local businesses beforehand.
Cash donations would also be most gratefully accepted, boxes will be in local shops for voluntary contributions and of course, donations may be handed to any committee member. And, the best news of all is that the community centre is back open for business.
Congratulations to Mikey and Max Roche, who won €77 in the latest draw. The next draw will be held on May 30. The parents’ association would like to remind you of the field day after the patron in Oulart and appeal for your support.
Celebrating the Battle of Oulart Hill 1798.
The ‘Evening of Music’ at Tulach a’ tSolais on Oulart Hill on the evening of Saturday, May 28, was an outstanding success. Musicians, singers and reciters attended and entertained the appreciative audience from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Among the musicians were keyboard player, Lilly May Tohill, Oulart and harpist Tara Cushe, Gorey (daughter of former Wexford full-back Ger). Local County councillor Mary Farrell, who has strong Oulart connections, brought the audience on a musical/singing tour around Ireland as well as giving a rousing rendition of ‘Boolavogue’.
Many of the entertainers present are regulars at the house of stories, Oulart and they gave their usual polished performance and brought the show to a close with Amhrán na bh.
