Sincere sympathy to the family of Sheila Corish, Sweetmount, who passed away last week. Sheila, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday in a few weeks time will be sadly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
Bridgetown Information and IT Centre.
The Information and Resource Office is open in the AOH Hall Monday-Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All office services available, printing, photocopying, scanning, laminating and emailing. All Social Welfare forms are available and assistance in completing them if needed. IT Room with five computers and printers available for public use. Library open Monday-Wednesday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
We have books for all age groups and all categories, e.g. fiction, crafts, gardening, cookery, sport, autobiographies, thrillers, and also a children’s section. Library is free of charge; all we ask is a small donation towards the upkeep of the service. Why not call in, have a chat and browse the services we have on offer.
Kilmore B-Frienders are here to help you combat loneliness, isolation, feelings of depression or just a friendly ear to listen to your fears and worries. It can be easier for people to chat to an individual outside their family circle.
You do not have to be alone to feel loneliness etc. you can be from a large family and still feel down and need someone to talk to. All the volunteers are Garda vetted and trained. It is a strictly confidential service. If you have any fears or worries please reach out for help and support, do not suffer alone. Congratulations to Faye O’Callaghan and her acro gymnastics partner Aoife White, who came home with three silver medals for their routines in Bulgaria recently.An amazing result leaving them in second place overall. Well done, girls. You did Wexford and Ireland proud.
Many thanks to all who supported our coffee morning fundraiser for the building of our new Animal Welfare Centre for Wexford. We raised €523.80.
Kilmore Community lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s community lotto were 3, 12, 17 and 27. There was one jackpot winner who received €7,800 and there were 12 match-three winners who each received €20. Congratulations to the jackpot winner and other winners. Next week’s lotto jackpot starts at €3,000.
Patron in Grange
The patron in Grange will take place this year on Friday, June 24, at 7.30 p.m. The graves will be blessed in advance by Fr Pat before the Commemoration Ceremony and prayers begin.
Quay Notes choir has restarted
The Quay Notes world music choir has restarted and continues every Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Stella Maris Centre. Newcomers are welcome. For more information call Elena at 089 4492399.
The girls and boys of sixth class, Scoil Réalt na Mara, will celebrate a Graduation Mass on Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. in the Parish Church. We wish each one of them God’s blessing and every happiness and success in their future schools. The Mass can be viewed online at kilmoreparish.com.

Golden Wedding anniversary

Active Retirement notes
Kilmore ARA held a very enjoyable coffee afternoon and quiz on Wednesday, June 15, in Mary Barry’s with a good attendance present.
After the coffee and the scones, we held 20 questions and this created a good bit of banter and enjoyment at the end of the day. The winning team with full marks consisted of Maria Rossiter and Bridie Barry. Three teams tied for second place just one point behind and these were Tom McKenna and Brendan Hamilton; Anne McKenna and Tom Gethings; Margaret Howlin and Ann Lawless.
On Tuesday we will welcome the Ballagh bowlers down to Kilmore Quay for a friendly game of indoor bowls at 2 p.m., which will be held in the Stella Maris Centre. Our usual bowling practice will not be held on Tuesday night as a result of this event being held.

OULART & THE BALLAGH
Pilgrimage to Tobarmaclura
On Wednesday evening, June 22, the pilgrimage to St Mochua’s Well in Killagowan, Oulart will be revived. With the help and cooperation of Martin and Siobhán Dempsey and family the Holy Well will be made accessible to the community at large. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
Special guest will be the man who discovered the ancient Holy Well – an t-Athair Séamas de Vál – former parish priest of Oulart, who will explain the history and significance of the well and of St Mochua, who became St Aidan’s successor as Bishop of Ferns in the year 625. For centuries this was esteemed as a Holy Well and the site of an annual patron on June 22, Mochua’s Feast Day.
Oulart Patron /field day
The Oulart patron will be held next Sunday, June 26, beginning at 2 p.m. Immediately afterwards, the field day, organised by the board of management of Scoil Mochua, will be held in the school grounds. All the usual stalls and attractions will be available along with plenty of new ones. Raffle tickets will be on sale in local businesses in the run up to the day as well as being on sale at the field day itself. Please come and support this event in aid of the local primary school.
Well done to Oulart-The Ballagh Intermediate team on their victory over Adamstown in the League Final in New Ross, last Friday, June 17. The team, captained by Conor ‘Birdie’ O’Leary won on a scoreline of one goal 22 to 10 points.
The Ballagh Active Retirement
The Ballagh Active Retirement Association is up and running again and the members meet twice weekly for bowls, in the Ballagh Community Centre. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions last from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and new members are always welcome. Anyone not familiar with the simple game of bowls will be introduced to it by the regular players and encouraged to have a go.
The Retirement Association hold their monthly meetings in Bob’s Restaurant, The Ballagh where members can have a meal or a snack while the meeting is in session. For further information ring Mary Fortune at 087 7987766.
The Special Occasion competition will be held in Bree on June 22 and Oulart Guild members are presently putting the finishing touches to their entry. The guild members are looking forward to going for lunch to the Wild Café at Beechdale Garden Centre on July 9.
Congratulations to Ciara Storey, who won €76 in the latest draw. The draw takes place every week. The next draw will take place on Monday, June 20. Scoil Mochua field day
Everyone is very excited about the return of the Oulart field day, immediately after the patron on Sunday, June 26.
Among the big attractions will be a draw for valuable prizes, including a 32inch Samsung Smart Television, an Outdoor Dining Set, Vouchers, a Flower Arrangement and many more. Raffle tickets are on sale in Corrigan’s Spar, Oulart post office and in Pierce Redmond’s, Raheenduff.
Oulart Active Retired
Oulart Active Retired meet in Oulart Community Centre on Tuesdays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., when bowls are played. New members are always welcome to join the Active Retired. Just turn up on any Tuesday or ring Mary O’Grady for full details (087 9361325).
The Ballagh split-the-pot
The Ballagh split-the-pot draw is held every Saturday. It costs only €2 to enter and the winner gets half the pot. A new addition to the draw is called ‘Upfront’ whereby you can pay €20 in advance which entitles you to entry in 11 draws for the price of 10.
After an absence of two years, the annual patron and blessing of graves will return to the parish and will be held in Oulart on the last Sunday in June and in the Ballagh on the first Sunday in July.
