On the victory trail again

It’s time to put out the red-and-black bunting and flags. Oulart-The Ballagh’s all-conquering senior camogie players, county, provincial and all-Ireland champions, will be back in the competitive arena at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, in Abbotstown, Dublin.

Their provincial title will be on the line when they play Dicksboro, the 2021 Kilkenny champions who overcame the Thomastown team in the Kilkenny county final and defeated St Jude’s, Dublin in the Leinster semi-final.

Best of luck to team – captain, Stacey Kehoe and her team-mates and to the management, led by Colin Sunderland, all of whom have already shown great determination, commitment and will-to-win, for the glory of the parish. Your vocal support would be greatly appreciated.

Camogie Club Fundraiser

The local camogie club are embarking on a very innovative fundraiser which asks supporters to contribute €25 to be included in the Euro Millions Plus Draw every Tuesday and Friday for a full year. The first draw will take place on February 1.

To join, please text or call Pat Fortune (087 9339950), Liz Freeman (087 7560871) or any committee member or player. This is a very practical way for us all to show our support for and appreciation of the valiant efforts and great achievements of Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club, who ‘have restored our pride and lifted up our hearts’.

Ireland Lights Up

The GAA and Irish Life ‘Every Step Counts’ Challenge is back and every member of the community is encouraged to participate. Every Tuesday and Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie clubs will host the ‘Ireland Lights Up’ event.

Why not join with family and friends over five weeks to walk the combined equivalent of 4,000 kilometres. If we hit the target the club will be entered into a draw for O’Neills Vouchers. The campaign starts on January 19 and runs till February 23. Please remember to always adhere to Covid regulations by sanitising and observing social distancing.

Go Fund Me

Oulart Hill Development Group is encouraging local people to respond generously to the appeal for funds to maintain, improve and develop the Walking Trails and the special monuments centred on Oulart Hill. For information on how to donate and to view the up-to-date list of nearly 70 donors, search for Oulart Hill Development Go Fund Me page.

Alternatively, you can donate in person, to any one of the following, Brian Cleary, Bridget Mythen, Breda Jacob, Bridget O’Toole, Eileen and John Dempsey. Every donation, big or small is welcomed and there is also a facility to contribute anonymously.

While the campaign may not pull at the heartstrings in the same way as other more health-related appeals, our Go Fund Me campaign gives everyone an opportunity to play a part in enhancing what Oulart Hill Development has to offer. Tell your friends about the campaign and encourage them to donate.

Oulart NS split-the-pot

Congratulations to Tina Rossiter, the winner of €78 in the most recent split-the-pot draw. The next draw will take place on Monday, January 24. Good luck to everyone who supports this fundraiser in aid of Scoil Mochua.
