Athletics
A gold and silver medal came home for St. Killian’s duo Niall Sheil and John Egan from the Leinster Masters Indoor Championships held at the National Indoor Arena in Dublin last weekend.
Niall Sheil backed up his recent gold medal in the National Masters Indoor Championships over the 3k a couple of weeks ago by taking another gold in the Leinster Master Indoors 1500m on Saturday. All is going to plan as he prepares to travel to Poland in two weeks to compete for Ireland in the World Indoors.
John Egan also backed up the silver medal he won in the Nationals in the 3k walk by taking the silver in the same event in the Leinster’s behind David Kidd from St.Laurence O’Tooles. John had a great race improving his time by 20 seconds from the Nationals to finish in a time of 15min 14sec. Well done to both for doing themselves and the club proud.
Jack Forde was also in competition last weekend, competing in the Leinster Indoors JSM Championships. Jack competed in the Senior Men’s Heptathlon (60M Sprint, Long Jump, Shot Putt, High Jump, 60M Hurdles, Pole Vault and 1000M) and having completed all events he had amassed 4543 points to earn himself the silver medal. Another great achievement by this talented young man.
