Soccer club AGM

The annual general meeting of Crossabeg AFC will take place on Friday, June 24th commencing at 7 p.m at the Club grounds in Newcastle. All are most welcome.

Senior St. Killian`s athlete Niall Sheil was out in action on Sunday week last for the Dee Ronan 10K which was held in Ballindaggin. The heavy rain did not deter anyone and it was great to see so many people taking part in the event.

The racers were geared up for the 10K timed event over what was a very testing course. Myles Gibbons of SBR set out his intentions hitting the road in sports. Killian`s Niall was tucked in for the first 5K but then Myles made a charge and opened up a 60M gap. The result looked ominous heading into the hill for the last Km but Niall dup deep and did enough to take the win. It was a thrilling race which was deserving of such a special event.

Juvenile athletes Ethan and Kyra Jarvis competed in the Inter County Relays at the Leinster Championships held over the recent bank holiday weekend. Both teams placed 4th which was a great achievement. Well done to both teams.

The final draw of the current round of the Silver Circle annual fundraiser for €500 and the bumper draw for €5,000 will take place on Saturday, June 18th at 7 p.m. in the community centre meeting room and anyone who would like to see the draw in reality are more than welcome to attend. Two lucky winners will be announced on the night, so good luck to all.

The official opening of the building at the community field at Garrywilliam, Crossabeg, will take place on Friday, June 24th at 7 p.m and everyone is welcome to attend. A cup of tea or coffee and a tour of the facilities is also on the cards. All are welcome, so bring the children for some fun and games etc.
