FERNS UNITED continued to close the gap on the Premier Division leaders after they overcame Shelburne 8-0 on Sunday.

Liz Evered scored two, with Ali Evered, Amy Wilson, Aoife Curran, Leona Breen, Mary Dwyer and Kayla Farrell all adding one each.

Shelburne have completed their first season in the top flight, while Ferns have a very busy few weeks ahead, with their LFA Junior Cup final against Terenure Rangers being confirmed for Sunday, April 23.

Cushinstown overcame an understrength New Ross Town side 2-0 and are pushing strongly for second place in Division 2.

Naomi Denton and Neala Barron were on target for the winners, with Town putting in a brave battle despite the lack of numbers.
