Long on target in Junior Cup loss
Enniskerry YC 5, Bree United 1: This much-delayed LFA Women’s Junior Cup first round game eventually got played on Sunday but, despite playing much better than the scoreline suggests, Bree bowed out of the competition on a 5-1 scoreline. Amy Long was on target for the losers.
Arklow Town 4, Lusk United 2: Two very young sides produced a very competitive LFA Under-19 Cup first round tie, with Arklow Town eventually booking their place in the quarter-finals of this inaugural competition.
Two goals from Abby Healy as well as one each from Jodie Walsh and Lizzie Bourke saw the home side through to a place in the last eight.

The league have recently lodged a new website and all future fixtures, results, tables and latest news will now be found on www.wwsl.ie. This site will now become the official notice for fixtures for the following weekend, and these will be posted on Sunday evening as well as updated league tables, etc.
Trials for our women’s Senior representative squad will take place on Tuesday, February 15, in Curracloe United at 8 p.m. These trials will go ahead for three consecutive weeks before a squad is selected, and then training will commence as the squad prepares for the Angela Hearst Inter-League competition which will kick off in April. Any clubs or players who require further information should contact team manager Wayne Gregg on 087-6808411.
The last time this competition was played in 2020, Wexford reached the final where they were beaten on penalties by Kildare, so a big effort will be made this time to go one step further.
Clubs interested in entering the FAI Women’s Intermediate Cup or FAI Women’s Under-17 Cup should be aware that the closing date for both competitions is January 30. Both competitions will kick off in April and run through the summer months, with the finals scheduled for August.
