Raparees’ Eamonn Furlong to referee his first Wexford Senior hurling final

Enniscorthy clubman to take charge as St Martin’s and Ferns St Aidan’s vie for the county crown

The elimination of Rapparees from the championship race last weekend has provided one silver lining for neutral followers at least.

It meant that Eamonn Furlong from the Enniscorthy club became available to potentially referee his first Pettitt’s Senior hurling final, and his appointment to the role on Monday has been warmly welcomed.

Although a relatively new addition to the ranks, Eamonn has shown himself to be the leading referee in the county at present with his strong rapport with the players and thorough understanding of the rules.

His first county final assignment arrived last year when he took charge of Horeswood’s Junior hurling win over Kilmore.
