Kids across the county are being invited to begin the first chapter of a new reading adventure by getting involved in the Summer Stars Reading Adventure with their local library.

Launched on Monday, June 13, the initiative aims to encourage young people to embrace the pleasure of reading and writing during the summer holidays. Anyone can get involved once they own a library card.

"This is always hugely popular with our young readers every year. 2022 is going to be particularly special because it's the first time since 2019 that we're going to be able to host in-person children's events, so there will be lots to look forward to for children and families this summer,” said Senior Library Assistant with Gorey Library, Alan Dobbs.

Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads one book or an e-book is a winner. Those interested in joining the reading adventure this year can call into Gorey Library to register and collect a Summer Stars record card.
