In the early hours of Saturday, October 22 Chris Bates of Grange, Kilmore passed away at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Anne, father of Anthony, Stephen, Mick, Paul and Mark and brother of Joe, Paul, Pat, Bill, Kathleen and the late John, Peggy, Larry, Nick, Martin and Pete, he is survived and deeply missed by his sons, daughters-in-law Stella, Ilene, Tracy, Mairead and Susan, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Chris worked in ABS Pumps from 1975 until his retirement in the late 1990s and was an honest hardworking family man. It was said of Chris that there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you and everyone who knew him described him as a gentleman with a great sense of humour.

His ingenuity and ability to come up with a solution to any technical or mechanical problem amazed us all, said son Anthony.

Chris left a legacy of hard work, humour and most of all, love. He was buried on Monday, October 24 in St Mary's Cemetery, Kilmore
