WEXFORD County Council has completed the acquisition of the old Murphy building on the quay in New Ross, while a further building in the town centre is expected to be subject to a compulsory purchase order (CPO) by the end of the year.

Speaking at the November meeting of Wexford County Council, Director of Services Tony Larkin revealed: “The council has now acquired the old Murphy building in New Ross. I’m delighted to say that we’ve closed on it. In terms of John Street, there is a CPO pending there, but we’ve had some issues that are not yet resolved. I expect, however, to proceed within the CPO framework by the end of the year.”
