Residents in the Bridge Meadows area of Enniscorthy are calling for traffic calming measures to be implemented in their estate as a matter of urgency.

The residents contacted Cllr Jackser Owens about the matter and he said something has to be done before someone is badly injured or worse.

“This really needs to be done as a matter of priority,” said Cllr Owens.

“The residents want speed ramps installed and they stops signs erected too,” he added.

Such is the level of concern over the matter that a petition has been started with in excess of 40 residents putting their names to it and Cllr Owens intends handing the petition in to the local authority to highlight how worried the people living the estate are.

“It’s a matter of health and safety and especially for children living in the estate,” said Cllr Owens.

He said parents bring their children to a creche in the area and they need to be safe doing that and their kids need to be safe.

Cllr Owens said there are also issues around flooding damage that needs to be addressed too and he is urging the local authority to listen to the residents’ concerns.
