A clothes recycling fundraiser has been started in Terrerath to help raise money for a variety of services planned at the venue.

The Wexford Local Community Development Committee (LCDC)/Local Action Group has approved LEADER funding for the Terrerath Community Centre’s 2022 Social Inclusion projects.

Last month, Terrerath Community Centre chairman Enda McDonald received an offer letter and signed the contract for an outdoor gym, outdoor social seating area and for a new sound system for the hall.

The outdoor gym and seating area will be available to hall users, local sports clubs, local residents and members of the public, while the seating area will provide a safe place to socialise and will be screened off from the roadside parking at the front of the premises by raised planters.

The Terrerath Community Council also purchased a new net for its free to use tennis court last year, so the seating area will provide a nice place to sit and watch tennis in better weather.

The seating area, the outside gym, soft surface flooring and the planters are being sourced from a local company Byrne Carpentry & Building, New Ross and the sound system by Foley Sound Engineering, Carlow.

The Terrerath Community Council has also started a clothes recycling fundraiser, this also includes paired and bagged shoes, belts and bags are also accepted (but no bedding; sheets, duvets, blankets, cushions or toys).

Bin bags of clothing are to be placed in the large blue bin at the front of the building, please make sure bin bags are tied up to keep the driving rain out. The recycled clothes will help to raise funds towards running costs of the hall.

The blue bin is available at all times and there is parking at the side of the road. The collection is planned to close at the start of February. The Hall’s Eircode is Y34 A027, the Community Council thanks everyone for their support.
