FOLLOWING on from the success of the first public consultation meeting on the urban regeneration plan for Enniscorthy town centre the local authority is planning on holding a second, similar event, in January.
At this month’s meeting of Enniscorthy Municipal District, acting District Manager, Bernie Quigley, said the first event in the Riverside Park Hotel was attended by over 100 people.
It took place on November 3 and was the first public consultation on a development strategy that is aimed at transforming the town centre.
"The event was facilitated by Wexford County Council’s planning section and took the form of a workshop to record the views of the public on the key issues currently facing the town and what needs to be included in a medium to long term plan for the town centre in particular,” said Ms Quigley in her report.
In addition to members of the public, the meeting was also attended by county council staff and members of the local authority in Enniscorthy.
Ms Quigley said the participants provided “constructive and wide-ranging comments and suggestions” that will all feed into the development of the strategy.
"The period of consultation is ongoing,” she said.
Comments and suggestions on the plan can be made through the public consultation portal at https://consult.wexfordcoco.ie/ or in writing to: ‘Renewing Enniscorthy’s Town Centre’, Planning Department, Wexford County Council, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93.
Ms Quigley said all comments received will be recorded and considered during the ongoing design process.
The second consultation meeting is planned or early in January.
