There was an air of enthusiasm for this year’s show when the Gorey Agricultural Show committee held their Annual General Meeting in the Loch Garman Arms recently.
This year’s show will take place on June 17 and plans are currently in full swing. The well-attended AGM was opened by Chairman Willie Cecil, who began with a minute of silence for all those who lost loved ones in the past year. This was followed by the election of officers. Lorcan Allen will serve as President, while Irene Poole will serve as Lady President. Willie Cecil will continue in the role of Chairman, while Ewan Johnston is Vice Chairman, Laura Johnston is Outgoing Secretary, Sandra Poole is Assistant Secretary and David Grandy and Zilpha Furney are Joint Treasurers. Stella Davis is PRO.
This year, Gorey Show Committee are planning to introduce a 'sustainability' section, which should attract a lot of interest. If people would like to get involved with Gorey Agricultural Show, they can contact Chairman Willie Cecil on 087 2618273. The 2023 show will include horse, cattle and sheep showing classes, a dog show, adult and children arts/craft/baking/garden produce classes, the pet corner and trade stands. Gorey Agricultural Show will be updating its website and Facebook pages regularly with news.
