BALLYMONEY looks set to have its blue flag restored this year, councillors at the monthly meeting of Gorey Kilmuckridge Municipal District heard.

George Colfer of the environment section said there is a deadline of December to submit for the flag but that things are looking good in terms of water quality. Councillors heard that recent samples were positive and the timeline of years of assessment will now move forward to reveal more positive than negative results.

Cllr Donal Kenny welcomed the news, describing it as great for the area and tourism.

In terms of water in Ballymoney, councillors heard that works were approved for the replacing of the Ballymoney Booster Pump and the contractor due on site in late November.
