INITIAL drawings of plans for the enterprise building on John Street show a design to connect it at the rear with North Quay.

Speaking at the March New Ross Municipal District meeting, Brian Galvin of Wexford County Council’s Special Projects team said a pre-planning meeting for the project took place in February.

The initial concept will be considered by the council’s Planning department and a preliminary layout prepared by end of April for review.

The Part 8 application will be advertised in May.

"It has been slow getting off the ground,” said Mr Galvin, adding that funding has been secured to bring it to ‘shovel ready’ status, but not for the construction works required.

Cllr John Fleming asked if it would similar to the Hatch Lab in Gorey, to which Mr Galvin replied that it would be similar while incorporating host desks, a tourism element due to its location beside the river Barrow and a commercial element also.
