Fethard Community Development Association held a fundraising event, an American Tea Party last Saturday night in St Mary’s Hall.

The event, attended by 130 revellers, saw an evening of good food, great chats and dancing into the night.

The delicious main course was provided by Shantha, while people brought their own nibbles and desserts.

A lovely medley of music was provided by Tony Jeffers.

Secretary of Fethard Community Development Association, Sinead Kidd Neville said: “The last similar event was held in February 2020 so it was absolutely wonderful to see the community come together once again. These events raise much needed funds so that we can carry out the projects for which we receive grants and have to provide our own match funding.”

Some current projects include the installation of lighting at Ashgrove Amenity Park and running track, completion of a feasibility analysis into the development of Fethard Barracks, formation and construction of a Community Garden and the establishment of Fethard on Sea and The Hook Peninsula as a Sustainable Energy Community.

“We really appreciate the support of the community on Saturday night and look forward to bringing everyone together again soon.”

Fethard Community Development Association would like to thank Shantha and Ber for the delicious food, Tony for the music, the dream team of helpers on the night Michelle Hua Newman, Siobhain Moriarty Neville and Julie Parslow, to Billy Loftus, Martina O’Leary and the Hall Committee for providing the perfect venue and helping with the sound and lighting, the people who helped with the organisation Ann Wall, Rosemary Butler, Thomas Stafford, Richard Finn, Sean Neville, Emco Printers.

“Thanks also to those who donated to the raffle, Liam Ryan, Wheelhouse Cafe, Sweathouse Sauna, Michael Murphy Furniture and Brenda Mohan. But most importantly thank you to everyone who supported the event and made it such a wonderful community occasion.”
