A call has once again been made by Cllr Michael Sheehan for action on pedestrianising parts of New Ross ahead of next summer’s tourist season.

Speaking at the New Ross Municipal District meeting, Cllr Sheehan asked if the streets identified as possibilities for pedestrianisation will be finalised shortly.

Area manager Mick McCormack said once the plans are completed funding has to be sourced, adding that the council is confident it can access this money.

“The consultants have been asked to proceed to carry out traffic counts and further vehicular traffic analysis to support the preliminary report and we will report back to the members on progress in this regard.”
