Island of Ireland Peace Choir has been promoting peace through music for over 20 years and they’re now hoping to create a Wexford branch.
On Saturday, February 4, the Island of Ireland Peace Choir are hosting auditions for the Wexford area in the Gorey Pastoral Centre next to St. Michael’s Church. Through these auditions, they’re hoping to find 12 new members who will make up the Wexford wing of the choir.
The Island of Ireland Peace Choir was formed by Gorey man, Dr Phil Brennan in the aftermath of the Omagh bombing in 1998 to promote their message of peace and inclusivity through their music. Since then, the choir hast ravelled to Matara, Sri Lanka, Messines, Belgium and Krakow, Poland to give hope to people in places synonymous with persecution.
The first peace choir auditions in Gorey will take place on Saturday, February 4 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Participants will be part of a sample workshop, getting to hear the harmonies and experiencing the dynamics of the choir for themselves. If participants enjoy the experience and can bring something to the choir, they will be invited to participate in next monthly workshop.
