A list of six sites which could be used for a hotel in New Ross town centre has been drafted by council officials.

Speaking at the New Ross Municipal District meeting, Cllr Michael Sheehan asked for an update on the potential sites for a hotel.

"I am conscious there are a number of large areas on both sides of the river that would be ideal for a hotel,” said Cllr Sheehan.

Area manager Mick McCormack said six prime sites have been chosen within the town centre, adding that councillors will be updated about the location of the sites in the coming months.

Cllr Pat Barden sought details of the locations of the sites, only for director of services Eamonn Hore to advise him that planning and ownership of the sites needs to be fully checked, adding that some sites can be quite difficult.
