WEXFORD County Council is to seek a meeting with General Manager of Rosslare Europort Glenn Carr and representatives of Iarnród Éireann in relation to plans to develop the port.

The request was made at this month's meeting of the council by Cllr Ger Carthy who said that while a planning application for a new border control post at the port was welcomed, he’d like to see where things are in relation to other badly needed improvements.

"I’d ask that maybe Glenn Carr and his merry men come in before us and give us a presentation of where we’re at,” he said. “We’ve heard a lot of spin on Rosslare, but still there’s no linkspan; there’s no extension of the pier etc. I’d like a meeting with Irish Rail to discuss these issues.”

It was agreed that the County Secretary would write to those involved and attempt to organise a meeting.
