Martin Fitzhenry praised for his ‘outstanding contribution’ as he retires from St John’s Hospital in Enniscorthy

The management and staff in St John’s Community Hospital in Enniscorthy recently marked the retirement of their HSE/South East Community Healthcare colleague Martin Fitzhenry.

A spokesperson for the HSE said Martin Fitzhenry gave very valued service as a Community Mental Health Nurse in Co Wexford and his involvement with St. John’s was recalled in a presentation made to him there by the hospital’s Director of Nursing, Beryl McKee.

Commenting about Mr Fitzhenry, she said: “On behalf of all the staff, the residents and families associated with St. John’s Community Hospital, we’d like to formally recognise the outstanding contribution made by Martin Fitzhenry.”

“Over a long number of years, Martin has supported older persons care through his expertise, advice and knowledge being available here,” said Ms McKee.

Describing him as someone who was always approachable she went on to comment: “Martin was skilled at keeping the person central in decisions and being solution-focused in the best interest of the residents.”

“I know our gratitude and admiration is shared by our HSE colleagues in the mental health services locally,” she said.

“We in St. John’s thank Martin for his outstanding commitment and we wish him well on his retirement.”
