WEXFORD County Council has invited six event management companies to submit mini-tenders to the districts they wish to work with in conjunction with the second strand of the Local Live Performance Scheme 2021.
Speaking at this months meeting of the local authority acting District Manager, Bernie Quigley, said the Department of Tourism, Culture, Art, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media recently announced the second strand and said funding of €145,000 has been confirmed for live music performances to take place between now and December 31.
"The second strand of funding is aimed at supporting employment opportunities for artists, performers and crews, to help underpin the recovery of the live performance sector,” said Ms Quigley.
"Wexford County Council has invited the six successful event management companies from the previous panel to submit mini tenders to the districts they wish to work with,” she added.
“There were two received in Enniscorthy and they will be examined in the next day or two,” said Ms Quigley.
Cllr Kathleen Codd-Nolan asked if something could be looked at for the other towns such as Bunclody and Ferns in terms of music initiatives for Christmas.
Ms Quigley said that’s something that could be looked at but added the suitable venues in those two towns might be an issue.
